Devil's Nest [Tuesday, November 8]

So...turned out that when Jack turned the clock back, he'd also turned the clock off.

"I'm sure your supervisor appreciates you for everything you just said," she told him, eyeing the glass. Just because it made a pretty color, it didn't mean anything good.

"Good. You're working," she said sensibly.

She was of course taking a sip of her drink, though.

"I would also hope you're not drinking on the job for at least one of those, either," she said.

No, Jack. Incorrect.

Susan just shook her head at him to get that very thing across.

She sipped it again to be sure of what her opinion on this was exactly. "Strange. It takes a bit like pink and blue mixed together somehow."

"Can you imagine what blue might taste like?" she asked.

"It's like that, but fizzy," she said.

"I am shocked to hear that," said Susan in the voice of someone who was totally judging.

"And one who works in a pub," Susan conceded, though she realized as she said it that the word 'pub' didn't exactly fit here.
