Thanksgiving Dinner, Community Center, Thursday Evening

So thanks to the combined efforts of Student Council members and non-members alike, a Thanksgiving dinner had been put together in the Community Center. There were pies, there were casseroles, there were other moddable edible things, and then there were the rolls made out of pie crust.

Thank you, Karla.

Come in and enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner where your friends and relatives wouldn't disappear on you! Probably!

Maybe Annie wasn't so disappointed that she couldn't go home for Thanksgiving. She would make the best of it, and was here and smiling and checking to make sure everything was going right, and - oh god, what were those rolls?

The Causeway wasn't letting Gabrielle go home for the day, which was just as well since with everything going on Xena would probably want her out of danger like she usually did. (It was just that the Causeway issues made it a lot harder for Gabrielle to get into danger anyway, per her usual habit.)

So the Thanksgiving dinner it was; she loved the concept of the holiday.

Plus, food. So hey.

Except for those rolls. She recognized her roommate's handiwork.

Raven was hardly in any sort of mood to eat or celebrate, not with all that was going on and seeing Azarath disappear last night. But she knew she had to keep her strength up as much as she could, and the Thanksgiving dinner meant she didn't have to prepare any food herself.

She wasn't going near the turkey, of course. Tofurkey, on the other hand....

Was it wrong to be at Thanksgiving when you weren't actually hungry? In truth, yesterday's meeting and finding out about people and places going missing and doing things like checking Twitter because there might be information there and calling home to make sure everything was still okay there was getting to Jaina a little. But it also meant she actually wanted to be around people.

You win this one, Fandom. You made her be social while in crisis mode. Have a cookie.

This morning, Nathan couldn't even get a hold of fucking Curtis. This ongoing joke was really starting to piss him off. He didn't have anything better to do so he found his way to the community center so he could eat until he puked and fall asleep.

All that was missing was booze.

There was hope that even given the cooks, dinner wouldn't suck. It wasn't allowed to on Thanksgiving after all! Besides, Caroline figured someone good had to have helped, right?

Considering the size of Jake's plate, it must at least have smelled good enough and Jake plopped down beside Caroline.

Ryan had planned on going to visit her parents for the holiday, but not after Portalocity gave her a travel itinerary that included stops in Quebec, Berlin, Kiev, Shanghai and an overnight stay in Burkina Faso before getting to her final destination.

So she was staying put in Fandom and wondering if anyone else had horrific travel stories to share.

Elphaba had decided to make an event of it, having put on one of her nicer long, navy blue dresses. With her hair tied back and her glasses on, she looked rather presentable.

She gathered a plate of the various vegan foods. She eyed the pie-crust rolls for a moment, thinking they looked like something to try, but she had no idea what was actually in them.

Goose had initially planned on returning to BETA Mountain for Thanksgiving but given the unreliability of travelling outside Fandom at the moment, he decided that it would be better just to remain where he was for the time being.

So he decided that he'd at least make an appearance at the Thanksgiving Dinner.

Quinn wasn't incredibly in a Thanksgiving mood, given the circumstances, but she was still there and plastering on a smile.

And occasionally nudging Karla's ungodly rolls to the back of the food table.

So... food. This was really weird. Mercy had never had a Thanksgiving away from Aspen Creek.

She'd decided in her room before she came that she was just sort of going to pretend it was just a regular day instead of some holiday that she really wished she was spending with family.

Jon wasn't the type to turn down food, and he'd even brought a pie and a couple bottles of sparkling cider to add to the buffet.

And since he was a smart Fandomite, he had listened to the radio and was making sure to skip the rolls. They looked a little... Karla-like.

This all seemed super low class and it had been a while since Chuck dealt with something like that, so excuse him if it looked like he was picking at his food like a five year old who didn't know what any of this stuff was.

Hey, at least he wasn't spending Thanksgiving at the bar.

Sam had been fully prepared to spend the day sitting at the house and moping all over Peter, but Zoe was still in denial and had insisted that he go out. So, he'd ended up at the community center, not that he was planning on eating anything. But he did find himself smiling softly when he saw Chuck. "Hey," he said, taking a seat. "You have no idea how good it is to see you."

Chuck had been planning to go back and visit Ellie. He'd been looking forward to it. Portalocity broke those plans. The route he'd been offered would've taken so many detours he'd have missed Thanksgiving entirely and probably lost a day or two more along with.

Trying to call Ellie to tell her that had been an all out failure, and he was making a concerted effort to Not Think About That. Which was where this came in. Food and people were great distractions.

He would be taking a little bit of everything. Including the pie-crust rolls. You couldn't say he wasn't brave in certain situations, at least.

After spending the last couple of days in his room worrying about what wasw happening back home, coming to the community center was a welcome relief to eat and socialize.

Anything to keep his mind occupied.
