What he thought had been a joke apparently wasn't a joke. And really, Nathan liked thinking that his mum and his friends disappearing was a joke instead of them just being...gone because something was fucking attacking them.

He was uncharacteristically quiet tonight while behind the bar. He was drinking and thinking, trying to figure out if he should go home in the hopes that maybe this thing would give the people he cared about back or if he should stay here and try and protect the most important person in the world:

Himself.

It was a confounding conundrum. Yes, it was. And Nathan was probably going to be balls drunk before he figured it out too. Oh well.

"Everclear," Max said as he walked up to the bar.

He'd found that the stuff was very effective.

"Strong choice," Nathan said, pulling his head out of his own ass for a moment so he could get the huge ass guy in front of him a drink. "Looking to get trashed quick?"

"When you're my size, it takes more work than it should," Max griped.

"If you've got any other suggestions, though, I'm totally open to them."

"Nope, nope, Everclear's a good choice," he said, giving Max a little salute before digging around for a bottle. "Unless you wanna go the dainty route and have a wine cooler. That'd make you look macho in all kinds of special ways."

"I suspect that'd take a little bit longer than I was hoping," Max snorted.

"The Everclear, though, has proven pretty effective in the past."

"Well, save the wine cooler for next time then," Nathan said before dropping the bottle in front of him. See, he didn't even bother with a glass or anything like that.

"And if you feel like vomiting, just aim it towards Tino," Nathan said, jerking a thumb at Tino. "He loves vomit. Just bathes in it, mate."

Nathan was clearly perceptive. Any glass would have just been ignored.

Unless Nathan wanted some. Max could probably spare a tiny bit, after all.

"I haven't gotten throwing-up drunk since I was thirteen." Max was more the get-a-hellish-headache-of-a-hangover sort of guy, really.

"But I'll try to keep that in mind." When he was unable-to-see-straight drunk.
