Ben was poking at mechanics at the shop today--it wasn't that he wanted to impress his cousin, but...

...okay, he wanted to impress Anakin.

Besides, it was soothing to work on something that had parts that could all slot neatly into place if you knew what you were doing. In his experience, politics at home never worked out that cleanly.

The shop was open as long as Ben wasn't in class!

Today Ben would be getting a visit from his other cousin because OMG SO SO BORED. So maybe the closer she got to the potential bad stuff, the more she wanted to check in. After getting in some training for the day, Jaina came down to the shop, greeting him with a smile. "Hey, there."

"Hi yourself," Ben said, smiling at her. "Welcome back."

"Thanks," she said. "And it's already a much better trip than the last time I was here!"

That happened when no one stopped existing.

"That is not setting that high a bar," Ben commented.

"Point. But I'll take what I can get," she replied. "How are you doing?"

"Pretty good," Ben said, smiling. "The singing was weird but not overly traumatizing. You?"

"Managed not to sing and my little brother throws sugar packets at my head," she replied. "So... good."

Topher was bored, so.

"Do you think Peter would appreciate me keeping the napkin he gave me with my order yesterday?" Topher wondered, wandering into the store. "Oooh, what are you working on?"

Yes, hello, Topher.

"I don't think Peter would appreciate that at all," Ben said, "but that doesn't always mean you shouldn't do it."

Not nice, Ben.

"That's kinda what I'm thinking," Topher agreed, grinning a little. "Dude. He was smoking. And serving fast food."

...Topher was going to have to be very nice to the squirrels tomorrow morning if he didn't want Peter to hear about this discussion.

"Gremlin bite, right?" Ben confirmed. "Not a sudden cash-flow problem?"

Topher snorted. "Pretty sure, yeah," he confirmed. "Though that would explain why he kept insisting I buy him Doritos the other day..."

"Peter eats Doritos?"

For some reason that surprised Ben, who'd always pictured him eating nothing but fiber and coffee.

"Lunch comes a-calling," Ender called. He was in a whimsical mood today - don't take it out on him, please.

He had a bag of burgers on him - three for Ben and one for himself - and some coffee.

"My favorite time of the day," Ben said, grinning. "And it's nice to see you too."

"Who said anything about seeing you?" Ender said, putting the bag on the desk. "I'm all about the lunch."

"And the ambiance of eating it in a shop?" Ben asked.

"The hubub of life and the thrift of commerce," Ender said. "It works on my appetite."

"You're so full of poodoo," Ben said, grinning at him.

I think the suit is ready finally ready for a test run.
