The Perk, Sunday afternoon

Bruce had a Blind Date today. Like any reasonable blind date, it was to start at a local business where they could get food and then end in the evening with drinks, but the whole thing would only take 8 minutes due to the magic of television editing. And just like any such thing, it started with Bruce standing off to the side and speaking in generalities about himself and what he looked for in a woman to nobody in particular.

"I have a tendency to be a little flashy. Expensive meals, cars, gifts... pretty much anything that distracts from questions like, 'Where have you been the past few days?' or 'Why do you have a knife wound on your chest?'"

"I'm into girls who are really passionate about something. It doesn't really matter what, as long as it's not murder, haha. But no, really, no murderers. Redheads are nice, though."

"I'm not really good at long-term, steady relationships. It's complicated, but it starts with the death of my parents."

And with that, it was time to wait at a table for his date.

The date, a redhead, had made sure that she had everything in place before she headed out to meet her blind date. She was a little nervous, but also excited.

Cassidy smiled at the camera as she was talking about the things she liked in a man.

"Well, really, this is the first blind date I've ever gone on. I thought it might be a better way to meet someone than let my family try to set me up with someone." She wrinkled her nose adorably. "In my line of work, it's hard to meet someone who can understand the schedule I have to keep and that I can't always do what I want to do for fun when there are people counting on me."

She brushed a piece of hair back from her face.

"I really like guys who care about something more than just themselves. If they care about others and the state of the world, then that means they're deeper than just trying to get into bed with as many girls as they want." She smiled. "Me? Oh, I like cooking for the person I'm involved with and giving him gifts so that he knows that even if I can't be with him all of the time, he's always in my thoughts."

This would be when she got to the door of the Perk. When she stepped in, she looked around and then smiled to see the cute guy sitting at a table.

"Bruce?"

"Cassidy," Bruce said, confidently. Because why else would a person he didn't recognize walk in and say his name?

He stood up and went for a handshake that he could subtly turn into a welcoming hug. "I hope you're ready to spend a lot of time together today."

She smiled and nodded after she was done hugging him.

"I'm looking forward to it," she responded. "What have you got planned?"

"I figured we'd start here in the ~~only~~ best coffee shop around, maybe end the day with some drinks and other than that, see where the day took us," Bruce said.

He pulled a chair out for her at the table to show that he was a true gentleman and not, say, somebody who spent his nights training to punch bad people in the face very hard. "So, where are you from?"

"I like that and it sounds like a good way to go about today."

She made a note of him pulling out the chair for her. He was a gentleman and that counted for something with her.

"I'm from a place called Dharo," she answered easily. "It's located in the Realm of Kaeleer."

A graphic popped up for the viewers at home: 'Realm of KaeLEER' as Bruce watched Cassidy intently as she spoke.

"Oh, really?" Bruce asked. "I've never been there. Is it far from Fandom?"

She nodded. "It's a pretty long way to travel -- especially when you end up dealing with layovers."

She looked at him, liking that he was attentive. "Where are you from, Bruce?"

"Gotham City, New York," Bruce said. "So it's been a pretty big change adjusting from the big city to a small town like this. The streets are safer and the people are so much nicer."

"Oh I love Fandom," Cassidy said. "And you're right, the people are really nice here. It's nice being able to interact with so many different people and learn from them."

"So true. And there's so much to do!" Bruce said, as if most of his free time wasn't spent tinkering in a cave. "Do you have any hobbies?"

"I do a lot of gardening," she admitted. "I also enjoy reading and meeting new people. Fandom never gets boring."

"Fortunately, you have me to help keep that not boring streak alive," Bruce said.

Don't get cocky, man.

"But that's so nice. Do you keep a garden here, or is that more something you do in Dharo?"

Cassidy grinned at him. "Well, that's a good thing to know, then."

She nodded. "I help take care of a garden here and have my own gardens in Dharo. The garden back home helps teach others how to use the land to help make their lives better."

She tilted her head. "What do you like to do?"

"A little bit of everything. I work out a lot, but I'm also an avid reader," Bruce said. "But mostly I like to be active. I've done pretty much everything from jogging to hang gliding."

"But all of that stuff is usually more fun with a partner."

"I work out a little everyday, but I've never been hang gliding before," Cassidy admitted. "What's it like?"

"Oh, it's amazing," Bruce said. "The feeling of gravity pulling on you while the wind keeps you up is one of the best things I've ever experienced. And you have just the best view of the world as you're flying above everything."

"If you ever have the chance, you have to do it."

"It does sound amazing," Cassidy said with a grin as she listened to him. "I'm going to have to see if there are any companies on the mainland that offer that sort of thing."

Another graphic popped up for the viewers: 'It will drive her people crazy when she does.'

"I think they even have a few hang gliding schools scattered around Maryland," Bruce said. "So you haven't done any hang gliding yet. But what's the most adventurous thing you've ever done?"

"Most adventurous thing I've done ..." Cassidy thought about that for a moment because her idea of adventurous and other people's idea of adventure were not always the same. "I asked someone known for being cranky and dangerous to teach me to fight and defend myself."

"Those are usually the best people to ask, if you think you can survive it," Bruce joked. Except it wasn't a joke. "How's it working out? Can you beat people up now?"

She laughed softly. "Let's just say that I'm able to block two out of three hits at this point. I think I'm a bit away from actually being able to beat people up, though. I think my trainer is being too easy on me, to be honest."

"Every little bit helps," Bruce said. "But I think you seem tough enough to remind them that the only way you'll get better is if they stop going easy on you."

Cassidy's smile lit up her eyes. "I think that's the nicest thing someone has ever said to me."

"I'm sure you'll inspire me to say nicer things before the end of the day," Bruce said.

"I certainly hope so," she grinned.

Bruce smiled back. "So just out of curiosity, what kind of guys do you normally date? Are they usually like me, or am I just kind of a dashing outlier?"

Walking the confidence/cockiness line again there, Bruce.

[OOC: Sorry for the delay there!]

Cassidy nodded. "Actually, you are a lot different than the guys I've dated before. ~~Of which there had been none as of yet.~~ This is kind of an adventure for me."

"Well," Bruce said, reaching across the table to place his hand on Cassidy's, "I do try to make things exciting."

Oh he was good.

"I have nothing against exciting," Cassidy assured him with a smile.

A graphic popped up for the viewers: 'He has nice hands.'

"I'm glad to hear that," Bruce said, lifting Cassidy's hand to kiss it like a true ~~playa~~ gentleman. "Because I have some very exciting things in mind for tonight."

There he went, getting brownie points from her again.

"That sounds intriguing and I can't wait to see what you have planned, then, Bruce."
