The Boards, Thursday [Auditions!]

Troy bustled around the Boards, setting things up for this final round of auditions. Hopefully they'd get a few more guys out.

Troy wasn't really looking forward to wearing the gold shorts himself. ... Well, actually, that could be fun, but he'd really rather they found someone from the community for the last few male roles.

SPECIAL AUDITION

Looking for adults males
to audition for Petey Sci-Fi!

Special audition this today,
January 26th, 2012!

Hercules hadn't intended to come here. But if something was supposed to be special, he figured it had to be fun.

So here he was, stealing a cup of tea before he got up to audition.

Hercules, clad in normal every-day clothes, bounded up onto the stage with a grin.

He boisterously declared "I have nothing prepared!"

Hercules planned on his raw charisma working things out for the best.

"Well, that's not too much of a problem," Jono noted, smirking faintly. "We can work with that, if you know some songs, perhaps."

Like that one about head-bashing. That one was a classic.

"Well, I do know some songs," Hercules said. "Do you have a lyre around? Or will I need to sin acapella?"
furnaceface: (Not buying it)

"Fresh out of lyres, I'm afraid," Jono replied, looking just a little amused. "I do have a guitar, and can play accompaniment, provided you're going to sing a song I already know."

"Well, you have a choice," Hercules said. "I can either sing a certain song you've heard before about smashing a foe in the face, or Genie in a Bottle by Christian Aguilera."
furnaceface: (UM.)

Jono's mouth hung open for a few seconds longer than was perhaps considered polite. And then he went for the only sane option.

"I am rather fond of that one about smashing, actually..."

Hercules cleared his throat and sang that same song again. His voice was strong and talented, a belting baritone that came from having years of experience singing, drunkenly and otherwise. And of course, he boisterously sang and this time did a bit of dance as he went.

Jono couldn't help but smile at that. Hercules was certainly enthusiastic, that was for sure...

"Every bit as amusing the second time around," he decided, nodding a little. "The dance was a nice touch, I think."

"Thank you," Hercules said, grinning widely. "Is there anything else I need to do, or is that good enough?"
furnaceface: (Casual. Ish.)

"Well, that's good for the musical number," Jono replied. "But usually for things like this, we ask the people auditioning to recite a monologue of some sort, as well. I don't suppose you know something offhand? Or else I can hand you something to read from. Whichever you prefer, mate."

Hercules thought for a moment, and then launched into a sequence from a movie he'd watched many times

"Ronny was a good bowler, and a good man. He was..." he trailed off, as if thinking. He delivered his lines like someone who wasn't a bad actor, but he wasn't exactly portraying great range. "He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors, and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of southern California from La Jolla to Leo Carillo, and up to Pismo. He died, he died as so many young men of his generation before his time, and in your wisdom, Lord, you took him."

He sniffed and wiped away an imaginary tear. "Just as you took so many bright, flowering young men at Khe San, and Lan Doc, and Hill 364. These young men gave their lives, and so did Ronny. Ronny who loved bowling. And so, Theodore Ronald Karabotsos, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Goodnight, sweet prince."

He ended by miming opening a coffee can.

Jono didn't recognize the film, unfortunately. He hadn't had much time for movies after he'd left Generation X, and this particular one had come out at almost the same time. But it was an interesting monologue. And, while Jono wasn't exactly wowed by Herc's acting skills, he wasn't terrible, either.

That was promising.

"Well done," he decided, nodding. "For something delivered on the fly, especially. With a bit of rehearsing, we could definitely have a place for you in our show."

And not even necessarily in lingerie. The whole time, anyhow.

"Of course there is," Hercules said. "I bring star power to your theater."

He grinned, as he was (mostly) joking.

"As well as testosterone, yes," Jono agreed, somewhere on the way to a chuckle. "We'll get back to you about the results of the auditions as soon as possible, but between you and me, I think there's probably a fairly good chance that you'll end up bare-chested and wearing golden underwear for this one, mate."

Because, thus far, Hercules was the only one who had auditioned that had anywhere near enough muscle to play Petey.

Hercules shrugged nonchalantly. "I can think of a few people that would bring in the door," he said.

He'd pretty much run around in little trunks for a sizable chunk of his superheroing career, so it wasn't like this would be new to him.

Jono had coffee. How could Jono do one of these things without it, right?

Okay, it was more like hot chocolate with a bit of coffee hiding somewhere in there for good measure, but... Coffee. Kinda.
