Yesterday had been... interesting. Seifer had spent most of the day watching Galahad (who was getting huge. What kind of cat did he end up with?!) chase around some little werewolf doll, and wrestling with it. He was just glad they weren't animate anymore, but Galahad was still batting the lifeless doll around the store this morning, looking depressed that his buddy wasn't fighting back.

Really. It was a sad sort of cute that Seifer observed from behind the counter.

On Kenzi's break from 'Dite's, she headed over to Groovy Tunes with a huge mocha for herself, and one for Seifer.

"I have detention! And I didn't do anything!"

Oh, sure, as if Seifer was really going to believe that.

"So," he said as he held his hand out for the mocha. "What is it that they think you did that you claim you didn't but probably was going to do until you got caught?"

Rickshaw, Kenzi. And the stolen butter statues. He has proof of things.

Yes, but she didn't get caught! It was the principle of the thing!

"No, you don't get it! They're not even claiming I deserve it! Sam got detention legit, but the announcement said about four of us are just 'randomly selected to serve.' What is this, jury duty?!"

And could she get out of it the same way?

Seifer just smirked as she said that. "Maybe they decided on pre-emptive detention?"

Hey, he'd gotten detention at Garden just for walking down the wrong hall.

"Then I am so hosed," Kenzi said, deflating and taking another sip of her mocha. "Dude. I just. Here." She held out the drink to him, still grumbling.

Seifer took his drink and laughed. "They'll probably just rotate through the students. You might not get popped again until the end of the semester or something."

"Let's hope. I wouldn't show, but they'd just make me do it again. And at least Sam and Topher are in this one." Kenzi slurped, then looked resigned. "We could take over Detention, maybe?" Maaaybe?

"And then you'll be serving detention every week from now on," he pointed out.

"Apparently I might be doing that anyway," Kenzi said, crabby. "What's my motivation to behave if I might get random Detention at random times?"

"Random times is better than every week?" Really, it was.

"Hey, at least detention here doesn't involve being tossed in a cell for three days."

The bright side, Seifer sees it.

"Meh. It is better than jail. Or juvie. I guess." Kenzi took another sip, energy running out with her outrage. "What were you in the cell for?"

"Which time?" Yes, he was serious about that.

"Enh." Kenzi squinted. "Most recent," she decided.

Well, that was easy. "Disobeyed orders on a training mission, took my team into the fight instead of hanging back and waiting like we were supposed to. Squall almost got killed by a giant, robotic spider."

"Whoa. Dude. Why'd you blow off orders?" Kenzi shuddered. "Spiders."

"Because I got bored, and it was a training mission?" Yeah, he could face up to his own bullshit now.

"Truly, I was hot-headed, thought I knew better than my superiors, got bored and wanted to show off."

"Yeah, you kinda had that one coming," Kenzi commented, taking another long pull on her mocha. "Last time I got Detention was... damn. Oh yeah. Putting Silly String and fake slime in Sharon McKinnon's locker."

"Wow. I don't think I've done anything that... well, nice, since I was twelve."

And then they handed him a weapon, and he got nasty.

"I was thirteen," Kenzi admitted. "I pretty much stopped showing up for Detention after that. Or, you know. School, for the most part." She'd still managed to be passing all her classes when she'd finally dropped out for good a year and a half later. "Was that the worst thing you ever got busted for?"

"Getting brainwashed and helping some psycho try to destroy the world?"

Well, he didn't get so much busted as get his ass kicked seven ways from hell.

"Probably the worst one was where I dumped some kid over the second floor railing and into the water feature moat type thing that was in the middle of the school."

"Dick." Kenzi pulled herself up on the counter to perch, and cocked her head. "What'd the kid do to you? Or was that a hazing thing?"

Yeah, not touching the brainwashing thing. Not just yet. That was bad juju. Ease into it.

"He was Zell." Yes. That is a reason in Seifer's world. "And he was there."

And he looked so funny with his hair flat.

Kenzi shook her head. "So, he ever forgive you for it?"

"Chicken Wuss? I think so, since he still answers my calls and emails."

Zell was his only way to get gossip on the things in Garden. "And it's not like he hasn't kicked my ass a time or too. Damn martial artists."

Kenzi snickered. "So cheating, isn't it." She grimaced. "How was the Detention that one time you had it here?"

Seifer just smirked. "I had to handwavingly babysit the Mayor's kid."

"Seriously?" Kenzi snickered. "Well, shit. That won't be so bad."

Little did she know.

"The interview was pretty panic-inducing. Jan's awesome though. She likes to shoot the dog."

Pink ribbons and Dora the Explorer, man. That was what they had warned him about.

"Rubber bands or nerf gun?" Kenzi asked. Then frowned. "Or taser?"

Hey, it was Mr. Deadpool's kid.

Seifer was of the opinion that Jan was saner than Deadpool.

"Squirt gun."

"Coooooool." Kenzi grinned. "I'll be sure to take a raincoat tomorrow."

"What if you're not babysitting?"

"You might here about me booking out of there on the Radio," Kenzi said. "Or, you know, getting another Detention. Heh. We'll see."

Petra came in carrying the broom. "Hey, Seifer," she said. "Just returning this, I sort of...needed it yesterday. You know."

He eyed the broom and grinned. "Dolls?"

Galahad was chirruping at his, it was kind of sad.

Petra eyed the cat and its doll for a moment, then informed Seifer, "That's just wrong. And, yeah, one of them was trying to make me its mama, and then it bit Tony. Have you been in the back room yet? I just locked the door and left them to it, I gotta be honest. I regret nothing about that decision."

Seifer looked back towards the backroom, which truthfully, he hadn't bothered with today.

"We'll leave it for George."

He was such a nice boss.

Petra looked over toward the back room and agreed, "Yeah, that sounds like a plan. So, uh." She thrust the broom toward him. "Here you go! One of them kind of...chewed on the end a little bit, but it's still good."
