The Perk- Sunday afternoon

Today when Jaye got to the Perk, she had learned a lesson from last time. She brought her laptop in so she'd have something to keep herself entertained while she sat at a table and drank her coffee.

And after five minutes of surfing, she realized it was pretty much nothing but football talk. Okay, that was it, next time she was bringing a book.

Darcy came into the Perk with her own laptop, and got all the way through buying a coffee and a muffin before she noticed Jaye. It took another minute for her brain to realize that she had forgotten to interview and write an article.

"You're a teacher, right?" Darcy asked as she came over to Jaye's table, balancing her coffee and a muffin in one hand.

"I need to interview someone for the paper." Darcy said and sat down.

Wasn't like she'd never been interviewed for the paper before. It was just that the last time she had been, she'd been a junior. Aaaand now she felt old.

"I guess," Jaye said, considering it. "Not like I had anything better to do."

"Cool. Cause otherwise I'm writing about how I seem to sleep through everything weird that happens and no one wants to read about that." Darcy managed to ramble while taking out her laptop. "Have you had a teacher profile in the paper before?

"Well I wasn't a teacher till this semester and the paper's only a few weeks old, so... no," she said.

"There was a paper earlier, apparently. But if you're new anyway, that really doesn't matter." Darcy waved a hand. "So where are you from and what do you teach?"

"Niagara Falls, and I teach movie day," she said, taking a sip of her coffee. "Well, it's Philosophy 101 but it's really just watching movies."

"Canada or US?" Darcy asked, typing away. "So like, philosophy of movies or just watch movies and pretend to be busy? Why philosophy? Or you know, why movies?"

"US," she said. "And we just watch movies. I have a degree in philosophy. All that time spent in college and for as good as a degree in philosophy sounds, it pretty much qualifies me to have a job with my name on my shirt. So, I have a class called Philosophy so it looks decent on your transcripts and we do nothing but watch movies. I find it fitting."

Darcy processed all of that. "So, basically, don't major in philosophy? And uh, how'd you end up teaching philosophy here of all places?"

"You can, just don't expect to become a world-renowned philosopher. I know a couple people in my class who are on the way to becoming world-renowned Wal-Mart cashiers, though," she shrugged. "I used to go to school here. Figured it couldn't hurt to come back."

Or because she was told to. Whatever.

"Oh, really?" Darcy looked up. "How long ago was that?" Go team tact. "Has the school changed a lot since you were here?"

"I graduated in 2007. It's pretty much the same, but most of the people are different. But I'm used to people turning into animals more often."

"Oh, you know. Animals turning human, getting sucked into locker 327, trolls- have you seen the janitor? He's a troll- people turning into kids, kids claiming you're their mom following you around no matter how many times you tell them no... Things," she answered.

"I dunno. Whoever their alternate reality dad is?" she tried. She wasn't going to get into detail on that for the paper, since Alec and Obi-wan held special places in her heart. Yes equally. She and Obi-wan had had something, dammit.
