The Boards, Sunday [Rehearsal]

Jono was off to the side today, nursing a coffee, while Troy took lead again. "Hey, everyone!" He was maybe a little bit too bright and cheery. "Today we're going to work on the floor show, which is basically one long musical number, so I hope your voices are in shape -- and that you've been practicing.

"We're going to start off with the choreography," Troy continued, "working with the recording, and then we'll start introducing the actual singing. Pennsylvanians, I want you on stage for this, too; I haven't decided yet, but I may be using you for the floor show, too."

Natalie didn't want to get shot. Neither did she want to pull a muscle.

Quinn didn't have much singing in this part; it was pretty much all the dancing.

So she'd be warming up like it was her job.

Hanna made it back to Fandom just in time for rehearsal. After the day she had, warming up was a definite necessity.

Rehearsal started with Troy walking the cast through the choreography, then starting the music and running it with them again. "Any questions?" he asked. "No? Good. Now do it without me."

They hadn't even made it to costumed rehearsals, and Natalie was still looking a little stiff when it came to the choreography here. Sorry, but this was the part that had made her not want to participate in the first place.

Her singing was more than fine, though. She'd hit on her Ecuadoria voice after some trying over the previous rehearsals. She wasn't trying to mimic Little Nell, but she'd still added more of a slight nasal twang to her voice than she had when she was just singing as herself.

"Troy, mate," Jono had intended to talk to him about this last night, after his office shift had ended. But he'd been so tired that he'd sort of hauled his arse to bed early, and then had woken up to call Raven back while she was drunk, and then he'd offered to walk her and Cassidy back to the dorms safely, so... "I have a proposition for you."

Fear it, Troy. Fear it.

"Sure," Troy said, grinning, "but this time you have to wear the tutu."

... Jono decided, perhaps wisely, that he didn't want to know.

"We'll negotiate that one," he replied, easily enough. "In the meantime, it occurs to me, we're really only making use of this facility two nights out of seven every week. Seems a shame, doesn't it?"

Ooh. Troy liked this idea already.

"A damn shame, even," he agreed, nodding sagely. "And, I mean, there's so much we could do with this, really.

"Why? Did you have something in mind?"

"Well, it occurs to me... All of our productions thus far have had some measure of music involved in them." All two. "But we'll probably want to do something a little less musically inclined in the future, and it would be such a waste, denying the residents of the island," and Jono, "the opportunity to get up onto that stage to make music."

He was getting to his point, really.

"I was thinking... perhaps some sort of... open mic, songwriter's circle, jam session sort of thing. Weekly, or monthly, or every other week, that much doesn't matter to me," though he was gunning for weekly, "but it seems to me as though there are just so many different cultures, so many different styles of music and so many talents on the island, it would be a shame to let them stagnate."

Not that he was at all talking from experience, being the mute kid with the guitar who had needed to hang back at the Glee Club to play backup instrumentals while everybody sang, really. And now there wasn't even that much on the island, was there?

Jono didn't have much in the way of malicious glee. He'd used all that up last night, explaining the lyrics of Bad Touch to Raven while she was drunk.

What he did have, of course, was coffee. A lot of it. Black. He really needed to quit with all the late nights.

Chocolate, Jono was good for. He'd probably die a horrible death, but at least he'd die happy.

... Not something that could often be said about Jonothon.

He'd never really fancied himself a hat person, admittedly.

It would be an awesome horrible death. There were chocolate covered coffee beans and macadamia nuts and almonds in there. Kenzi held out the box in happy anticipation.

"Welcome to Carnivale!" Kenzi plopped it on his head. "You look like a Musketeer now. Awesome." She grinned. "Rapunzel got a boa, be thankful."

And now... Now Jono was apparently a hat person. His mildly perturbed frown was about all that was visible below the brim, in that ridiculous bright blue while he sat there with coffee in one hand, and chocolate in the other.

"I think I can honestly add this to a list of things that I ever foresaw happening," he shared.

How completely ridiculous did he look? Be brutal.

After she finished in the library for the day, Raven headed into town and slunk into the Boards. She remembered the phone call from the night before and was predictably horribly embarrassed, so she wanted to apologize as well as thank him for seeing her and Cassidy safely back to the dorms. And then flee.

"Hello, Jono," she said as she drew near. "I know you are probably very busy, but may I have a moment of your time?"

Jono was... actually not terribly busy. He had a ridiculous feathered hat sitting in his lap, though. And a box of Brazilian chocolate that he was giving wary looks at, both courtesy of Kenzi.

... He was mostly going to just stick to the coffee ones.

"I've got plenty of it," he replied, offering her a bit of a smile. "Feeling any better than you were last night, luv?"

Raven was figuring the hat was a prop for the show. Underwear and feathered hats. It wouldn't be too surprising.

"Yes," she said, wincing a little. Bobby's ginger ale had helped settle her stomach, at least. "I am not certain what happened. Cassidy made tea for the two of us and it was...intoxicating. I knew the jello shots were not a wise choice after that but by then I did not care very much."

"Must've been one hell of a brew," he noted. "So, you'll be adding 'tea made by Cassidy' to the list alongside 'Chuck Bass brownies' and 'shots of peppermint,' I'm assuming?"
