When Wednesday rolled around, Nathan was ready to fucking drink and drink well. Graduation was coming up which meant he had to decide what to do with his life (as his mum put it) and she hadn't liked his answer of 'fuck off and get wasted.'

She'd even sent him a package of university brochures that he'd lugged to work and that were currently spread out over the bar. Nathan wasn't looking at them though. He was using them as coasters.

Jaina could remember a time when she couldn't wait to get out of Fandom and stay there, and now she came back specifically to do things like work through the messes alternate timelines coexisting created.

So yeah, there was totally a real drink in her hand as she found a seat and waited for her grandfather.

Anakin had wheedled an entire bottle of whiskey out of Tino before he sat down--he figured it would be easier than going up and back multiple times.

"So how's your week been?" he asked, walking toward her.

"It's gotten more interesting," she said, standing up to hug him. Like a lot.

Anakin held on tightly, closing his eyes. "Thanks for coming," he murmured.

"I'm glad I was able to," she murmured back. "How're you doing?"

She could hazard some guesses on the answer.

"Not great," he admitted, not letting go just yet. "I knew it was coming eventually...but I'd hoped I would have more time."

"I thought it'd be a while too," Jaina agreed. Why could everyone's timeline not work the exact same way as hers? There could have been years. "I don't think I've ever seen Mom that mad before."

"She pulled a blaster on me," Anakin said, slumping into a seat.

She paused, honestly shocked for a second, and then sat. "Okay, didn't see that one coming."

"I think she hopped the first transport out of Bespin," he said, reaching up to massage the bridge of his nose. "She got my temper."

"Yeah, she did," Jaina frowned. "She'll calm down. I doubt it'll be right away, but I'm sure it'll happen." There was a reason her little brother got named what he did, after all.

Anakin took a hefty gulp from his drink. "She didn't shoot me and leave, at least."

Only in their family did that count as being optimistic.

"Of course not. She's a politician. Politicians talk," Jaina said. "I saw her earlier."

"Did she yell?" Anakin asked.

"~~Not so far.~~ No. She's still mad, but I tried to give her things to think about for when she's not mad," she said with a shrug.

"Like what?" Anakin asked, finishing his drink and pouring another.

She was soooo not going to judge him for going through a drink that fast today.

"That you're not that person anymore. That you're literally not the Vader in her galaxy. That you've already spent years atoning for things you did." She frowned. "Plus I've realized that you get to prove yourself for that and for the rest of us who show up from other places."

It really did seem unfair to him, when she thought of it that way. If she could get upset that her Jacen at nineteen had had to answer for things a much older him had done in another reality, there wasn't really much difference there.

Anakin nodded. "I kind of figured that last part out out the first time I saw you at the picnic. I stayed anyway."

He was taking this as part of his punishment for, you know, killing millions of people.

"Sorry for being such a bitch back then." Wow, that wasn't as hard to say as she would have thought.

But seriously, she'd been a bitch back then. At least now she knew better the right times for that.

"You were young," Anakin said. "I was an unbearable teenager myself." His lips quirked up. "Just ask Belthazor."

There is an OOC and I should be around tonight!
