The Perk, Monday Morning
Raven had returned to the dorms to find the awful uniform waiting for her, but considering Jono had to leave Fandom because of this infuriating visit, plaid was the least of her concerns. So she sighed and put it on, though she felt quite uncomfortable and disliked the length of the skirt. At least putting her cloak on over it made her look almost normal.
Until she went to the Perk for some tea, at least. She'd picked a caffeinated blend and after her first sip felt a strange sensation in her back. Alarmed, she'd pulled off her cloak and looked over her shoulder to find...black feathery wings?
Please excuse Raven while she panicked, first because of how and then because of oh-Azar-Karla-and-Warren-can-never-see-these.
[Open, because screw the flowers today.]

"The Hell?!"
Hello, Raven! How were you?

The wings weren't cooperating and were flailing as much as her hands.

On the bonus side, if Warren did show up? He wouldn't actually know what all the flailing and pointing and spazzing was about.

"It is not my cloak!" Raven protested unhappily, tossing it over a chair. "The wings! They just grew!" She turned a little to show Karla how they had just sprouted from her back.

For some inexplicable reason, she had yet to have coffee yet. So she was just a little on the confused side, yes.

Ugh. Yeah. Not even going to finish that thought.
"Here, first, let me get rid of this tea," she said, floating the cup over to the trash. For all she knew, just touching it could make wings sprout. "I'm going to get us something else to drink--something in a can, just in case--and then we'll figure this out, okay?"

Stupid wings.

Not that Karla wouldn't love a pair of wings, but she was more than a little wary when Fandom was being cute. Not to mention there were how many school board members wandering around?
"Here, try this," she offered, popping the can and taking a swig of her own.
no subject
"Can you hide them?" she said before taking a delicate sip. "Like you do Warren's?" Which reminded her of something else she'd been meaning to talk to Karla about.

Please hold, Raven. Karla had to pause a moment as the whimsy of Fandom island met with the caffeine in her drink. Growing them didn't hurt, thank the Darkness, but having them furled tightly against her back, trapped by her shirt and suit jacket certainly did.
"Merciful Darkness!" she said, following that up with an even pithier phrase she'd learned from Morghann.
no subject
"Oh, Azar, not you, too!" she exclaimed, realizing what must be the cause. She quickly set her can down.
no subject
"Ahhh!" Very different kind of 'ahhh' there as it sank in: she was in the Perk, wearing only a bra and a newly-shortened skirt, and flaunting a pair of wings. Those wings were being wrapped around her chest in very short order, yes.
no subject
"We cannot drink anything?" she said in dismay. "This is not a good time for your whimsy, Fandom."
no subject
"I need to call Warren. See if I can't borrow one of his shirts until these go away." Because she wasn't going to rip holes in her perfectly good shirts if she could help it, and now that she had that hideous uniform top off, she'd be damned if she was going to put it back on.
Feathers and polyester did not mix.

"Perhaps this is Fandom's opinion on these...uniforms," she said, managing to swallow any colorful words to describe her opinion on it.
no subject
You know, wrapped in wings and a cloak and all.
"And we might as well finish our drinks. What with already having wings."
no subject
She settled back in her seat, her expression turning glum again. "I do not like this," she said. "The uniforms are uncomfortable and unpleasant, but that is a minor thing compared to forcing people to not be themselves. They made Jono leave Fandom, Karla."
Well, they hadn't exactly forced him to go, but given the options....

Few goldmarks. Few hundred thousand goldmarks. Same diff.

"If these sponsors are going to make these visits a regular thing, then we must find some sort of alternative source of funding," Raven said firmly. "I will not allow our friends to be treated this way."
no subject
"They'd better not be a regular thing," Karla mumbled. "Fandom won't be Fandom if it is. If we have to hide."
no subject
"I had wanted to ask you about making one of your sight shields for Jono so I could take him from the island to a surprise," she said, squirming a little as she tired to get comfortable sitting with the wings. "So no one would stare or bother him. But I do not want him to think I am ashamed of how he looks."

The eyebrow didn't surprise her, but she had to ask. That was how Ravens rolled.

"Though...it might be fun to see if they actually work first."
