Caritas, Saturday

Apparently, Tino thought that he and April were friends, and that April was interested in listening to his ideas about cool new pick-up liines he wanted to try.

Tino was mistaken.

"Are you ever going to shut up?" April asked him dully after about twenty minutes of this horrible treatment.

It seemed like a no.

And so the headdesking began. Or head-bar-ing, rather.

"Gin and tonic, thanks."

Hello, April. Sarah had no manners. Well, except for saying 'thanks'. Other than that, she really just walked up to the bar.

"Hey," Sarah agreed as she took the drink. She took a sip before adding anything to that. "New, or have I just not paid attention?"

Considering they'd been at the same party last weekend, it was probably both.

"Six months," she said, and made a face. Or wrinkled her nose, anyway. "Almost to the day."

Stupid SPA. Even though it hadn't all been bad.

"Not really." Not after the first few months, anyway. "'Sides, time moves differently back home. Unfortunately, it doesn't really matter how much time has passed here."

"Community service makes me want to check," Sarah rasped, not really caring whether April was sympathetic or not. She wouldn't have been. "Will probably be stuck here for the second half of summer, too."

Hey, Sarah was a second generation superhero, of course she was badass. But of course, nothing about her signalled that right now, except for the pendant with the electrical current symbol hanging around her neck.

"Why I'll keep on being stuck, or why I'm in community service?"

"'Fraid that's classified information, sweetheart," Sarah drawled. Mostly because she didn't like talking about it. "But I can say it was in self defense."

That was her story and she was sticking to it.

You had to know Sarah's definition of self defense to appreciate it, really.

"Teaching," she said, as if it was about the same thing. "Superhero things."
