Turtle and Canary, Tuesday

Frank considered himself a pretty responsible employee most of the time. He made sure things were tidy and organized, he was friendly and polite to all the customers, he never messed up the register ~~except that one time and he was really really sorry about it~~, and above all, he was professional at all times.

So if anyone spotted him reading a comic book instead of keeping an eye on the store during his shift today, it was totally a trick of the light.

Hope usually did most of her shopping on Fridays, since it meant she could just pick stuff up before she left work, but she'd managed to run out of half a dozen different things at the same time and she didn't feel like waiting until Friday this week.

"Hey," she greeted cheerfully as she approached the counter, basket in hand.

Blushing slightly, Frank lowered his comic book. "Hey," he greeted Hope, reaching for her items to start scanning them. "Find everything okay?"

"Yep," Hope said with a nod. "Though I think I grabbed the last package of paper plates, so someone's gonna have to restock those."

A pause.

"God, that sounded bitchy, didn't it?" She smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I'm Hope, by the way. The Friday girl here."

"Frank," he replied, smiling. "Nice to meet you. Don't get enough of the shop during your own shifts?"

"Ran out of a couple things at the same time, figured I'd just get my shopping done early," Hope said with a smile and an easy-going shrug.

"Good planning," Frank replied, handing her her bags. "You're all set."
