The Streets (and Rooftops) of Fandom, Thursday

After a busy morning, being on patrol was kind of relaxing. Honestly, this was the part of Clint's job he liked the most, getting to watch what people were doing and putting the pieces of everyone's lives together into a great big island puzzle. Getting to shoot the people when they were bad was just a bonus at this point, and as for his shooting, he was determined that no one would be getting away from him today.

Peeta didn't normally go out much during the daytime. He wasn't the fastest person around, or the quietest and he didn't have the stomach to hurt someone he thought might be cursed. But sometimes when he got brave or if he really needed something, he'd go out during the day.

Today was the former. He wasn't really sure what he would find out in the streets today, but it felt nice to be out in the sunlight for once.

Peeta, naturally, didn't notice a thing. He was keeping an eye out while scavenging for supplies but he only thought to be looking around him, not up. Scavenging took up most of his attention anyway. He had done this enough that he wasn't grossed out by looking through some loyalist's trash but he still wasn't as good at it as others were.

Yes, you could be good at dumpster diving.

Yeah no way Peeta was standing his ground. When the arrow fired past his head all he could think of was Katniss and how many animals she had killed with a bow and arrow. He knew he had to get out of there.

He broke out in a run as soon as he hit the pavement. He knew enough to not run in a straight line but it occurred to him that it wouldn't matter if someone had good enough aim.

Natalie was out again, though alone this time. Patrolling was a thing to do, and there were one or two people she was keeping an eye out for in particular. For personal reasons.

And occasionally, she looked up towards the rooftops to see if she could spot everyone's (well, every Loyalist's) favourite archer somewhere up there. She was entertaining the idea of having a word with him.

And no, it wasn't to make excuses for why they hadn't taken Alec in yesterday.

When the arrow connected Peeta stumbled forward and fell onto the pavement. Blood flowed onto the concrete as Peeta gasped for air. He only struggled for breath for a few moments before everything went dark and he went still.

Natalie squinted upwards – ah, yes, there he was. "I've had worse," came the reply. "But also better. Mind if I come up for a second?"

Because when you wanted someone to consider keeping an eye on someone else, you didn't necessarily want to be standing in the street yelling about it.

That was a thing that Natalie often found herself wondering about, when she dealt with the cursed. That it wasn't all just... mindless. She wasn't sure which she would have actually preferred.

She made her way up rather uneventfully, which was something she preferred. Once up there beside him, she glanced down and around, realizing she'd never had this particular view before. "Huh."

Natalie was not a girl of extravagant reactions to things.

"No, but it is an interesting view." Natalie did so like different views on things. But she managed to pry her gaze away from it to flick it over to him. "I was going to ask... for a favour, I guess."

Natalie shrugged one shoulder. "I just have one or two people I'd like you to keep an eye out for especially."

"Kiss kiss," Karla drawled, stepping out from the shadows. Looked like her idea to take a walk after visiting Detention had been a good one. Nowfound respect for the rules or not, Karla still found herself appreciating Clint's arms.

Dammit.

"How's the view?" she asked.

Well, now that Karla could use her Craft again with abandon, she saw no reason not to exploit it. "Keeping an eye out for trouble," she said with a grin. "Isn't patrolling a regular duty of ours? And I'm rediscovering how nice it is to be out in the sun again, without having to skulk around under a mousey wig."

Karla raised her face to the sun and smiled. "I can't believe I fought against this for so long."

Natalie glanced down at the street. "Well, you've probably seen the girl that looks like me." Except kind of a more unkempt, traitor version. "I think she falls in the 'something else' category."

"Did you hear that Topher got her immobilized and just left her?" Natalie drawled, rather plain in her tone about how she felt about that. Which was that it had been immensely stupid.

(The Alec thing, of course, was different.)

"It's a liability to have her around, when I can't really even use the likeness to infiltrate." Because she didn't want to. That wasn't what she'd say if she was asked, though. "So she should go."
