A rooftop in the warehouse district, Thursday Evening

Leon sat on the edge of a rooftop, staring down at the alley below. Angelo curled up behind him, thumping her tail and whuffling periodically.

It was way too open and exposed. A loyalist might see him. But... he had wanted to watch the sunset, tonight. And now that it was nothing more than a faint glow over the mainland, he felt a little more at peace. This weekend, everything was going to change -- one way or the other. If they failed, which they probably would... he didn't think he could keep this up any longer. If he was still alive on Monday, he'd turn himself in.

And if they succeeded... well, he didn't have any hope of that. He'd do his best to keep the other resistance members alive, though. He reached back and stroked Angelo's fur gently, finding comfort in her.

[Open like a rooftop! All are welcome to visit, but for Resistance broadcast only.]

In fact, a loyalist did see Leon. Fortunately - or very, very unfortunately - it was just Yakko, running past and swiping to attempt to tag him on the back while yelling, "TAG! YOU'RE IT!" before diving off the rooftop into whatever weird encounter he was going to have next.

There was a brief gust of wind right before Sailor Venus landed on the roof, red mask obscuring the upper part of her face. "Nice view," she said, following his line of sight.

Minako had spent most of the week with her head down, doing her best so no one would take notice of her. But with the rumors she'd been hearing, well, Sailor Venus needed to get out and do her part to inspire people.

Sailor V had killed another person once, by accident, right before Minako had come to the island. Adonis' death had changed her into Venus, and she wasn't sure she wanted to know what a second death would cause.

"You kiss your dog with that mouth?" Venus asked, kneeling down a few paces away and offering the back of her hand if Angelo was interested. "It's a beautiful night, and we've got a great view."

All the pettings you want, Angelo! Venus really missed Artemis.

"Sure they are. Stars are still stars, even when you can't see them. The moon is still watching us, even when the sun blinds you. Lots of things are beautiful, if you're willing to see them." Sorry, Leon, but both Sailor Venus and Minako are horrible optimists. "That's what makes them worth fighting for."

And from another rooftop a package containing food, provisions, soap and deodorant was tossed and landing next to Leon.

There were dog biscuits too.

"Enjoy," the masked person called out.

"I do my part for the resistance," he snapped back. "And anyone else who might need help."

"It's called working undercover," he replied with an eyeroll. Not that Squall could see that under the mask. "And at least I'm not sitting around and feeling sorry for myself."

Okay, there was some guy just up on a rooftop. Right, it was that weird guy in all the black leather that sometimes came to meetings. Which, by the way, Maeby was still a little weirded out about.

She was on her way to Caritas, so she wasn't sure why she stopped. Maybe because the guy had a dog with him.

"What's his name?" she asked.

Maeby rolled her eyes. "Wow, sorry I couldn't correctly ID what sex your dog is," she said.

"Whatever," Maeby said. Oh yeah, everyone was taking his lines tonight. "Can I pet your dog?"

"Kiss ki~iss."

Leon had heard that greeting before, many, many times. This might have been the first time he'd ever heard it infused with so much amused malice. Of course, this was also the first time Karla had ever broken anyone's mind and then run off to crow to their boyfriends about it, so there was a probably a good reason for that.

Karla walked out of the sunset, giving Leon a smile. It showed a lot of teeth.

"Oh, I wasn't here to give you one," Karla assured him gaily, taking a seat just out of lunging range, though he likely wouldn't see it as such. "I thought we'd have a little chat. You know, talk about how we spent our day, what we did, who we talked to. I know mine was busy. You probably spent all day moping, so you can go first."

Karla waved that away. "Bah," she said. "Perhaps that's why it took me so long to understand; I was night-blind, you see. Going out in the day, it gives you so much more clarity, you know? It makes it easier for you to understand things, see how they truly are."
