Chilly Boulder- Monday late afternoon

Given who the chihuahua currently in her care was when he wasn't a chihuahua, there was no way in hell Jaye was leaving him alone in her apartment. It was a miracle he wasn't dead by Vader like a dozen times for the stuff he pulled, he wasn't getting left with her stuff unsupervised. So naturally, he was at Chilly Boulder with her.

While trying to talk them into giving her the raisin rum without the pesky raisins, the manager came over to complain about the dog in a food establishment, which was why Jaye'd spent a lot of time arguing that it wasn't really unsanitary unless Jamie was doing the scooping.

Believe it or not she won that one, and was now at a table, refusing to share. "I hear ice cream's bad for dogs," she explained.

[A day late but I still did it. Open!]

And lo, there was an April eyeing her from a nearby table.

She wasn't even eating ice cream. Chilly Boulder was just a fun place to creep.

"You have a rat dog."

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
...

"Is this like the pony thing?"

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
April pointed a little finger-gun in her direction. "Right you are."

Eh, whatever. Jaye wanted to not feed ice cream to a puppy version of a crazy teacher, that was her business.

"So, hey," she said, starting to wonder if maybe she should go get some ice cream now. Since everyone but the dog was having some, and all. "Way to fail with getting a getaway rickshaw."

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
...

"Now I'm wondering whether doing work would've been worse than detention."

Priorities.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Plus the food sucked," April conceded. "And after a while it sort of smelled like corpse."

Did ice corpses smell?

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"...Did you ask?"

If she'd asked, Jaye was going to have to be April's new hero.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, like water in Mexico," April agreed. "Good call."

Yes, that was Rory pushing a stroller and allowing herself to be led by Juliet into Chilly Boulder. She was still having some clinginess issues with Anakin, okay?

"She" being Rory, not Juliet. Of course.

Juliet was momentarily distracted from her mission by Jaye, though. "Got a doggie," she observed thoughtfully, peering eagerly at Jaye.

"Did you? Or is that a friend?" Rory asked, tilting her head.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Weird question time: can my daughter pet Jamie?" Rory asked. "Because she's probably going to either way, I'd just rather he didn't like, freak out and turn into a bunch of little Jamies."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"It's okay, so will we," Rory assured her. "I'll leave this wildly overpriced stroller and bolt. This speaks well of our survival instincts."

Sorry, Jamie. Juliet pet dogs like she thought they couldn't feel through their fur. (So, it was really more like three year-old smacks.)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"That one?" Rory asked, pointing at Juliet. "Because that's probably okay. The other one can't walk or talk or anything yet. He'd be forced to just sit there while the Jamies ran all over."

Rory.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
"He'd be fine with it," Rory assured her. "Juliet threw a bunch of tongue depressors at her pediatrician last time she got a shot. She can handle chihuahuas."

"Good doggie," Juliet assured everyone, still patting Jamie vigorously.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I think she found them in a drawer?" Rory said. "I don't know. It was a Force thing."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Without the blood and death," Rory agreed, reaching into the stroller to pick up Christopher. "Toddlers are a joy, by the way. This is what you'd get with Obi-Wan's kid, just think."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"He was adorable," Rory offered, bouncing Chris a little. "Are we repressing on principle because he was a kid?"

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably not, but then you had a minion," Rory pointed out.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"It only takes a little while," Rory pointed out. "We're working on Chris right now, but he doesn't speak English yet so it's tough. But Juliet generally follows orders!"

Generally.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Juliet, stop petting Jamie or you can't have ice cream."

Juliet, who had momentarily looked ready to burst into tears, was instantly distracted. "Starberry? An' sprinkles!"

Rory, bribery is a different thing entirely.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"You didn't say I couldn't!" Rory pointed out. "And we are in the place that sells ice cream."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"She's still in training," Rory replied. "And ice cream is a good incentive to continue to behave. I can keep her trained under the promise of ice cream for like, days at a time."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"The ice cream? Well, yeah, we're here and if we leave without it she'll scream bloody murder the whole way home," Rory replied. "But otherwise her concept of time isn't really good."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably until she starts going to real-kid school," Rory said thoughtfully. "She still thinks that as soon as it starts snowing it's C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S and I swear to god right now if you say anything about the guy in red I will find a way to end you."

Yeah, Rory should have thought that through before even starting that sentence.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Rudolph?" Juliet stared up at Jaye from where she had once again become preoccupied with petting Jamie. "He's got a red nose!" She poked her own nose demonstrably, in case Jaye did not know what a nose was.

Helpful.

"'s it Christmas?" she asked, already starting to go to the shrieky-excited place, decibel-wise.

"Thank you," Rory said dryly.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2012-08-07 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"PRESENTS?" Juliet was now full-on bouncing and flailing.

"I wish I could bottle that," Rory noted, watching.

"Mommy, gotta make lists! Presents!"

At least no one could say Juliet wasn't her mother's daughter.

"I wonder what Auntie Jaye's getting you," Rory offered, glaring at Jaye. "I bet it's something awesome."
