TINY PUT SOMETHING ELSE ON.

Jono had come to the Devil's Nest with the intention to celebrate surviving his first class as a teacher in a place that wasn't going to be overrun by students. It had only seemed like the thing to do at the time.

... He was wondering if perhaps he shouldn't have just stayed home with his cat and a case of beer, instead. What the hell was Tiny wearing?

Clearly, he needed to be more drunk than he was, in order to get through tonight. Clearly.

Karla had been looking for someone. And by 'someone' she'd meant Jono. And she was very glad that he'd come to Devil's Nest to get his drink on and not Caritas, or else she wouldn't have been able to give him the greeting she had so earnestly wished all day.

And there went her phone, sailing across the room towards Jono's stupid, thick head.

And there went Jono's stupid, thick head, being smacked from the side by a phone. And there went Jono slamming his drink down on the bar and wheeling around, lip curled back and hands balled into fists, to face whoever the bastard was who had the nerve to--

"Karla?"

Well. That had been unexpected.

"Do you know what the Hell that is, Jono?" Karla snapped, pointing to the phone now resting innocuously on the floor. "Do you? Have you ever seen one of those, by chance? Heard of these mysterious devices? Perhaps even had their mystical properties explained to you by wise old sages and keepers of forgotten wisdom?"

"I've had passing experience with one or two in my time," Jono replied, his tone dry as he crossed his arms over his chest. Let her pick up her own damn phone, if she was going to throw it around in a fit. "Though I must admit, I am a touch rusty with the bloody things."

Yes, he was going to continue to use those years without a mouth as an excuse. So far as he was concerned, it was a fairly good one.

"Why, who am I in trouble for not keeping in contact with this time?"

"How about the fact that Magneto is on the bloody island!" Karla hissed at him. "You sure as Hell remembered how to use a phone enough to berate me for going up against him with the X-Men that time! But now that he's part of the bleeding faculty, you're just going to play stupid with the damn thing?"

SHE HAD A CLASS WITH HIM, JONO. A CLASS.

Ah. Yes. That.

"Different Magneto," Jono pointed out, looking... about as mild about the whole thing as he possibly could. "I have spoken with him, luv. But if I thought that he was here to pose the island some sort of actual threat, do you honestly think I would've kept quiet about it?"

He didn't sound thrilled about it. Not by any stretch of the imagination. But he was... resigned to it, if nothing else.

Where Eric was drinking Southern Comfort and blood. He was a classy vamp that way.

The fact that Stiles had waited a few days to directly disobey Derek's order to not go to the Devil's Nest was really quite amazing and Stiles felt he should be praised for holding back. Somehow he didn't think he'd be getting it.

He still wasn't quite sure why he had been banned and was determined to find out. Which would be why he was exploring every bit of the place that he could, and that included the VIP section. And Stiles was very glad he had wandered in there when he saw Eric.

"Wow." Yes, that wow was for you, Eric.

How he hadn't figured out his sexuality yet was a mystery.

"Yes," Eric said, examining his fingernails, "I get that a lot."

Well Stiles could see why because good god. It'd just take a second for him to pick his jaw up off the floor.

"Yeah, sorry, I was just...surprised." That was a word for it. "Surprised to see anybody back here, I mean, not surprised for other reasons."

Riiiiight.

"Uh huh," Eric said, sounding bored. "Something you needed?"

Because he could kind of understand not going to Tiny for a drink tonight. No one needed to see that much chest hair.

"Just looking around. Some guy told me not to come here," Stiles explained. "Threatened to kill me if I did, actually...so naturally I did the direct opposite of what I was told."

His inability to follow orders was a compulsion. A sickness, really. Nothing he could do about it.

"Didn't think Tino was that worried about business at Caritas," Eric said dryly. "Doesn't say much for your self-preservation habits, either."
