The Beach, Thursday Morning
Liara had settled here, at least for some time. But that had not made her less set on making her way back home.
It was a beautiful day outside, and she had heard that it might not be long before autumn set in and the temperatures fell sharply. Perfect excuse, then, to take the book on inter-dimensional physics she had found with her to the beach. She strolled around for a while, until it became obvious there was no designated place to sit-- and settled on a rock instead.
Then she took the book out of her backpack and studied the cover. Soon enough, she was reading.
And then the Pokeballs started falling.

Yeul picked one up cautiously, careful not to press the button she found on it, and wondered what to make of this Fandom oddity. Turning the item over in her hands, she walked along the beach, idly counting how many of them were landing until she spotted Liara.
Changing the angle of her course, Yeul made her slow but steady way over to the other girl, hoping she would not mind company. "Do you think this counts as a rain?" she asked cheerfully. "Hello, Liara."

Liara had leaned over and was currently mostly upside-down, clenching her book in one hand and one of the pokeballs in the other.
She tilted her head, but didn't have the clarity of mind to sit up. "Oh. I do not think so. This doesn't feel like it has evaporated at any point."
no subject
She trailed off and shrugged, unbothered.
"Do you think these can evaporate?" Holding her pokeball up to the sky, Yeul looked slightly dubious.

She didn't sound particularly worried, despite her words.

That would totally help if it was dangerous, right?

Sure, it could end terribly. But she had some reason to believe it would not. (A flimsy reason, but a reason none the less.) "Then we should try," she said, turning the ball around until she found the button.
no subject
Yeul thought about taking a step or two back but decided that, ultimately, if it was dangerous those steps wouldn't help her at all, and remained where she was. She turned her ball around but kept her fingers away from the button. There was no need to try with two of them at once.

... a small Newfoundlander puppy. Beware.
"Well," Liara said.
no subject
That was a good thing!
"It's really rather adorable."
Which didn't mean it was harmless but that, she felt, went without saying.
no subject
It was small and hairy and wriggly.

Yeul offered her hand to the creature to sniff, if it was so inclined. She smiled at Liara. "Do you think we should try another one?"
no subject
"I..." Well, her scientific curiosity had certainly been satisfied. "...If you'd like."

With another flash of light her ball popped open to show…
A tiny kitten.
"Awww!" It was no less cute for being half-expected. "Though I think mine is a different species than yours."
What gave it away, Yeul?
no subject
She tilted her head at Yeul. "The species does not seem familiar?"

The puppy in her arms leaned up and tried to get at her face. She pulled back reflexively.

There were some like that in any sort of animal.
"I would venture to guess that yours is likely the same in that regard."

"Either it is hungry or it likes you," she suggested.
