El Burrito Loco, Sunday Evening

Yes, it had taken them months to get around to a trip out for dinner that had been proposed back when they'd first arrived in Fandom, but Ulrik and Sholeh were finally making it happen.

Their restaurant of choice? El Burrito Loco.

"I hope you're okay with spicy food," Ulrik said, after picking up one of the menus, "as it apparently features quite heavily on the menu."

[ooc: for the definitely-not-a-date dinner partner, but open for all your mexican food needs. I'D TOTALLY FORGOTTEN WE HAD A MEXICAN PLACE, NGL.]

"I'm not sure!" Sholeh said, scanning the menu eagerly. "But I look forward to finding out! Because Mexica is another landsca--err, umm, country?"

That was the proper word for it, right?

"Does that ever get weird for you?" Sholeh asked, propping her chin in her hand, every admonishment to keep her elbows off the table flying out of her head. "Seeing so many things you know, but differently? Or is it so far beyond you that learning that Mexica one day gets its independence just doesn't seem worth caring about?"

It was wrong though. Everyone knew the proper name is 'Mexioc.'

"I think you've mentioned something about that?" Sholeh said, giving up on the menu entirely. She didn't understand what most of the foods listed even were; trying to remember what she'd eaten at the welcome picnic was very impossible.
"Because people came from far away and changed everything, right?"

Sholeh nodded. It meant nothing to her, the same way the year the Tryad claimed would mean nothing to anyone here. "And it is September, correct? The ninth month of the year."

"Ten years ago for us, but still four hundred and some-odd years in the future for you," Sholeh said with a nod. "But...a whole village?! How does that happen?"

"Those poor people," Sholeh said. "To unexpectedly have to leave their families and friends and whole world behind. They must have had a beastly time getting adjusted to the new world they found themselves in. Have they figured out how to get home yet?"

[Hitting post helps, self]

"I hadn't even thought of that," Sholeh said. "How dreadful. I--"

She was interrupted by their waitress's arrival. Did they want drinks and appetizers? Sholeh ordered a soda, but then was stumped by the idea of an appetizer.

"Have you thought about what you want?" she asked Ulrik. "Do jalapeno poppers sound like things that would be good?"
