The Perk, Sunday Afternoon
So...Karla had decided to sign up for StuCo this year. Which probably meant she should...get around to campaigning or something. Except, well, she didn't really know how to do that. Running for office wasn't something she'd ever had to worry about, after all.
So, going on what little she'd learned from previous StuCo campaigns, she knew that the best way to put herself out there was to offer people free stuff. Extra points for offering free food. Which was why she was parked outside of the Perk with a tray of coffee on one side and a plateful ofdubious-looking cookies on the other, and a little card that said, "Free! Help yourself! Karla for senior rep!"
She felt like there maybe should be more, like streamers and balloons or something, but she was running for StuCo, not planning a party...right?
Hmm. Maybe she should have added glitter to the sign at the very least. What if the 'free' sign wasn't eye-catchy enough?
[Open to everyone, including other folks looking to campaign! ...Avoid the cookies though.]

He shouldn't ask. He really shouldn't. And yet.
"What... type of cookie is that?"
He should have gone inside. Gotten himself some biscotti and gnawed on that for a while. It would have been safer.
no subject
As you could probably, err, tell.

"They'd be better put to use for your actual campaign," he decided, no doubt sentencing a student or two to a one-way trip to the clinic. "I'm faculty, luv, I can't vote."
It had been years since he'd eaten a cookie, Karla. Don't put him off of them for the rest of his life.
no subject
"Don't be silly," Karla insisted. "When was the last time you had a cookie, anyway? I'm sure I could spare one for an old friend."
no subject
"You're... too kind," Jono replied, tentatively reaching for a cookie that almost immediately stuck fast to his fingers. Well. That didn't bode well. "What's in them, if you don't mind my asking? Remember, I still find myself floored by half of what I eat, these days."
So if he reacted poorly to these, at least he had a viable excuse?
no subject
He took a tentative nibble of the cookie as she added, "And jelly, of course. Because peanut butter cookies just kinda boring, but I knew I couldn't get too creative, but who doesn't love peanut and jelly?"
no subject
It was a slow, sort of painful process, chewing and swallowing. Partly because the cookie was gluing his fingers together. Partly because he wasn't entirely certain what to make of the fact that the sweetness was making his eyes water a little.
"You know... most people... they add the jelly to the top of the cookie, instead of mixing it in."
Thank god there was coffee. If he took one and drank it black in one long, careless pull, not only would it kill the taste in his mouth, but also his ability to taste until the burns healed.
Ah. Much better.

Her hand hovered over the cookies for a moment before she brought it firmly back to her side. "So funny. I always forget we have one of those."
no subject
Run, Juliet. Run.
"Is there something the student council can do to make them more memorable?" she asked. "Some more ways we can be involved?"
She was concerned about your needs, Juliet! See? Totally representative material!

Shaking her head at the offer of cookies (even in her little bubble, she'd heard about Karla's cooking), she gave answering the question a go anyhow.
"More parties," she said firmly. "There should be a big one at least once a month. With themes, maybe, so we had a reason to really dress up!"
no subject
"That's actually something my platform addresses," Karla said with a nod. "I was thinking of a 20's gangster style casino night, maybe for charity or something. With those dresses and hats and the males in those weird sounding suits."

And running into Karla.
". . . I'm pretty sure offering free coffee outside a coffee shop is a conflict of interest."
no subject
Because the baristas didn't want anything bad to happen to the population of Fandom. They cared, Fandom, they paid.

They'd offered to even pay for the cookies themselves, but Karla thought that might be unfair. This was her campaign, after all.

He was going to have to record this somehow, send it back to Piper. So she could see just why he used to twitch when she got too close to the stove.

She paused by the blonde girl outside with the coffee and cookies and read the sign before looking up, mildly confused. "Do you work here?" she asked curiously.
It seemed like a logical question! Perhaps she was a barista and a student at the same time?
no subject
The coffee was safe, Yeul!
no subject
So she smiled back as she picked up a coffee. "Thank you," she said. "Shall I make the leap of logic that you're Karla, then?"
no subject
...That was as far as she'd gotten, at least as far as spiels went.
"And you?"
no subject
A beat.
"What does StuCo do?"
