What was it that the DJ had against Derek's sanity? Because today he was playing Blue Moon on loop.

Derek? Derek already had the right spot to bury a body picked out. That's how much he loved this song. Really.

Stiles had promised to annoy Derek to death, didn't he? He tried to make good on his promises, which would be why he showed up here.

"So what are you gonna be for Halloween? Something cliche?"

Damn it, Stiles. Damn it.

Derek stared, hoping this would make Stiles go the fuck away. But that was a fool's dream, Derek. A fool's dream!

"Aren't you a little old for that?"

"Dude, you're never too old for Halloween," Stiles said. "And aren't you calling me a kid all the time anyways?"

"By the way I would like a Coke. And put cherries in it."

For that, you're getting a handful of cherries in very little Coke. Because Derek was a shitty bartender like that.

Derek shoved the drink at him, rolling his eyes. "Maybe you can find yourself a Mighty Capin' Justice Magicians costume before it's too late."

Stiles stared down at his drink. "Dude, who taught you to tend bar?"

Derek stared for a moment because of those names. Seriously. Those names.

"Root-beer."

"No, Root Beer couldn't make it. I don't actually know him that well, anyway. He's not even from Ponyville."

"Not bestest, but he doesn't always frown directly at me," Kitty said. "I think that means something."

"You should get him a care package," Pinkie suggested. "I did that just after we met. He was grumpy, but I think deep down he was glad to know I was thinking about him."

Kitty started to say, "There's my favorite surly bartender," but about halfway through 'surly' she stopped, listened to the music, and frowned, pointing at the ceiling as if to ask, What's going on here?

"The DJ has a deathwish." That was the only explanation.

"Glowering didn't help?" She was going to take a leap here and assume there had been glowering, yes.

He glared at her as though to prove it hadn't worked. Because that goddamn song was still playing.

"I'm going to take that as a no," she inferred.
