So, okay. Jaina had been in Fandom juuust long enough to know that if you suddenly found yourself time displaced, or whatever, just go with it and it'd fix itself. It was extremely weird, but she could do it.

That said, she wasn't really sure if she supposed to go about doing her normal things or not. Not that she didn't like Inara, but she kind of liked staying in the apartment she'd woken up in yesterday, classes weren't the same, so fine, she'd skip those, but did she still go to work? She'd gone to Caritas on Wednesday as usual, and when she saw there wasn't already a bartender on duty, she decided that meant she was working.

Uh, so your bartender was here, and she didn't know how to mix drinks yet but if you wanted something poured or to be handed a beer, she was your girl.

Where your bartender was in the wrong place for 2012, but the right one for 2007.

"Hey, Jaina," Zayne said as he took a seat at the bar. "Is it just me or is something weird going on the past couple days?"

"Yep," she said with a nod. "For instance, I have no idea who you are."

Said good-naturedly, though!

"The important thing is that I have a definitive answer," Zayne said after a moment. "Zayne? From very far in the past? ... Anything?"

Jaina shook her head, and explained, "Apparently I'm in the wrong time, or something? My little brother who doesn't go here in my time had to explain it. Hi, though, Zayne."

"That makes sense. It's like nobody's teaching any of the classes I signed up for, so that would explain it," Zayne said. "I hope that also explains why I woke up yesterday in a giant apartment by myself."

"Me, too. I'm keeping it while I'm here, though. I'll take it over a roommate anyday," Jaina said. And then realized, "Oh right, can I get you anything?"

"I'll just stick to soda. The last thing I need is to someone end up going back to my time and ending up drunk in front of my Master," Zayne said.

"Your Master?" she repeated, watching him as she filled his glass. "Jedi?"

"Right. You don't know that about me," Zayne said. "Yep. Currently a Padawan, hence the braid. And I'm from the same galaxy as you, but a few thousand years before your time. You've never heard of me, though. I'm going to assume that's a good thing."

"This is so weird," she said, placing the drink in front of him and leaning on the bar. "I'm guessing we're friends?"

"I like to think so. Whenever I have Jedi problems, you're usually there with words of encouragement. I mean, I guess you could just be really nice to everyone," Zayne said. "But I'd call us friends."

"I'm definitely not really nice to everyone," Jaina replied. Just ask her grandfather. "I kind of feel bad that I don't know anything here."

"That's the Jedi way, though, isn't it?" Zayne asked. "Getting thrown into weird situations you don't know how to handle and then handling it anyway? If I can manage that here, you shouldn't have much problem with it."

"I'm handling it. It's just weird," she complained. "And I keep trying to get through to Jacen and get news from home and none of that's working. Do you know how annoying that is?"

"Not really. Master Lucien figures I should be as independent as possible here," Zayne said. "But I'm pretty sure that's mostly because I bug him."

"You don't seem like the type to bug people," Jaina pointed out.

"He'd argue that it's different if you have to teach me," Zayne said. "He was just about at the top of his class when he was a Padawan. I'm... Well, I try." He said it in the same tone that so many people have used when talking about him in the past. "Honestly, there's a better than decent chance that when the rest of my classmates are keeping peace throughout the galaxy, I'll be here making a decent living as a dishwasher at a restaurant or something."

AHEM.

"I'm sure that's not going to happen," Jaina said. "And maybe he just needs to teach you better."

"See. There are those words of encouragement you usually give," Zayne said.

"Really? No one at home would believe me if I told them that," Jaina said.

"If it helps, you can tell them that I just bring out the nicer side in people," Zayne joked.

"So far you do seem to be pretty impossible to get crabby at." Considering Jaina'd managed it with two different relatives yesterday.

Not that she knew one was a relative.

That was besides the point.

Go hang out.

Or hang out some more.

Being back in 2007 Tiny Jaina brain is making me all nostalgic.
