The beach and the preserve [Thursday noon]

The call of freshly baked cookies by lady scientists and no-longer-caustic superheroes, the beat of bongo drums and dozens of other bad ideas coming from Fandom in the last day caught the attention of the Migratory Dodos, who, after four years perched on the roof of the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC, were looking for a new nesting area.

They traveled to Fandom with only minor casualties (a few forgot that helium might make their squawks sound funny for a few seconds, but without those balloons holding them up, they couldn't actually fly anywhere) and made themselves comfortable on the beach and in the preserve: some in trees, some in bushes, some on piles of driftwood, a few unfortunates in a squirrel's nest before they lost the scuffle and got thrown out (literally).

They settled in around noon and began laying idiot balls. They were blue, they were shiny, they were just the right size to fit in your hand, they were oh-so-tempting to pick up...

Go ahead. Pick some up. What's the worst that could happen?
