Devil's Nest, Friday evening

The usual DJ wasn't in sight tonight. Instead the gremlins were to be in charge. The music was all Christmas, all the time, complete with an off-key gremlin chorus singing along.

Yup, it was going to be one of those nights.

Around the fourth replay of Run, Run Rudolph, Allie decided she really missed the friendly bears.

Gremlins apparently liked to live dangerously. The next song wasn't Grandma and her reindeer, no, it was Dominic the Donkey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik_kznmI324).

Was there a digital equivalent of a record scratch? If there wasn't, there should be as the music quickly changed to a subdued version of Silent Night.

Allie was impressed. "I need to work on my intimidation skills."

Yeah, he definitely had her beat there. "I'll have to keep practicing then."

"Are you staying in town for the holiday?" she asked curiously. "It seems like a lot of people are heading off island."

"I'll go back to Shreveport to check in," Eric said.

He paused. "Would you like to come--if you can get off the island, of course?"

"I appreciate the offer," Allie said sincerely.

"But I think I'll stay here. I'm still not sure if I can leave to go other places. I'm going to try and go to one of Jack's classes with him next month. I figure it'll be a safe place to start." Because while the idea of visiting Shreveport was intriguing - she'd like to see a world where vampires lived peaceably with humans - possibly getting stuck there was not appealing.
