JGOB- Wednesday morning

All Kitty wanted to do was get something little for breakfast. As it turned out, she was also getting a bit of a show thanks to the gremlins duking it out right outside, which she had full view of thanks to the seat she'd picked.

The thing was, when she'd just seen gremlins caroling together a few days ago, she had to wonder what had happened since then, and found herself hoping that everything was okay. Yes, she fully realized that those were probably weird thoughts.

For all his backtalk and sass, Clint was the kind of guy who followed orders as well as he could. It was only when he was morally opposed to something that he was willing to take a risk and be defiant, and unfortunately, there was no way he could pretend to be opposed to his newest assignment. When Fury had called, Clint had assumed he was being called back, but apparently it had been decided that Clint needed to get closer to the teenage population of the island, and now he was going to be teaching.

Clint wasn't sure who was going to be worse off, him or his potential students.

He might have looked a little annoyed when he came into JGOB, but the scowling melted a little when he saw Kitty. "Hey. Are you having a joyous Kwanzaa?"

Kitty considered this, and said, "Yes. I think I am. Doesn't seem like you are, though." And then she pushed a chair out a little with her foot to give him somewhere to sit down.

"Hey, I've run into my beautiful girlfriend, so I'm doing great," Clint said smoothly, taking a seat. "Better, at least."

Okay, Kitty maybe liked hearing that a little. "Glad I could help. Did something happen?"

She much preferred smiley Clint to scowly Clint.

"Nothing bad," Clint said, because that needed to be made obvious right away. "Just... wondering if I made a good decision. Do you think I'd be good with teenagers?" Not counting Kitty, of course.

She was only a teenager for like three more weeks as it was anyway.

"Sure," she answered, not even having to think about it. "Don't you have students who keep checking in with you already?" Because she listened to radio.

"I do. I'm still not quite sure how," Clint admitted, "but I do. And I'm glad you think so, because I might have agreed to teach a class at the school when everything starts up again."

"Really? What're you teaching?" she asked, totally interested. She was that nerd who still kind of missed school, of course she was interested in what he was doing.

"Well, it seems like there's a lot of classes for the kids who are like you, who have awesome abilities and everything. So, I thought maybe it'd be fun to teach something for the kids who might not feel as special, but who can still do awesome things, you know?" That had sounded better on paper, honestly.

Kitty smiled slowly. "I like it. It's like a class built for the Stileses of the world." And he had better sign up for it, seriously. "So why don't you seem that happy about it?"

"I'm just not a hundred percent sure I'm gonna be a good influence on kids. Or have any idea what I'm doing." All arguments Fury hadn't listened to, but that wasn't an annoyance he could share. "I bet you'd be good at it. You seem like you get along with everyone."

"I've thought about it. I'm not sure they'd take me seriously, though," she admitted with a shrug. "You'll be fine, and the kids will probably love you. And I bet you're a better influence than you think ."

"Maybe. I did manage to win you over after all," Clint said. "And your mother, which is usually pretty difficult. Or so I've heard."

[throughaphase]

"Exactly. And I liked you from the very start," Kitty said. "How many people do you not get along with here? Derek? Because you first saw him roughing up a sixteen-year-old?"

Clint made a face at the mention of Derek. "I still don't like him hanging around Stiles." Thankfully, Clint hadn't heard about the "date." "I mean, who thinks roughing up a sixteen-year-old is okay?"

Kitty paused, because she'd heard about pet names for Mr. I'm Not Gay Really and had heard Stiles talk about him and nothing seemed right. "They've got a weird relationship," she said finally.

"That's one way of putting it," Clint said, looking contemplative for a moment. "If you thought Stiles was in trouble, you'd tell me, right?"

"Yeah," she said, a little thoughtfully. "Honestly? I think he brings a lot of it on himself, too. I kind of think bugging Derek might be a hobby."

One that she knew nothing about from experience, really.

"Well, Derek makes himself easy to bug," Clint said. "But it's also fun because I know I could take him if he ever tried anything with me."

Yes, Clint genuinely believed that.

"Well, after getting shot I'd hope he'd know better than to do that," Kitty pointed out.

She did know about that, yes.

Clint gave Kitty a guilty look, but maybe not as guilty as it should have been. "He told you about that, huh? In my defense, I had very good reasons at the time."

"No, Stiles told me. He explained why, too." Which would be why she hadn't gotten mad or brought it up before. "I'm kind of amazed Derek didn't tell me, actually."

[so_hawkward]

"Well, if I turned into a creepy-looking monster, I wouldn't want to go around talking about it either," Clint said. "Thankfully, he's been behaving himself lately."

"I know a mutant who does the same thing," Kitty told him. That might explain why the werewolf thing didn't bother her even a little. "Do you really expect him to do something bad?"

"Yeah?" Clint said in a duh kind of tone. "I don't trust him. I mean, I know you like him well enough, but... I just don't trust him. I can almost never tell what he's thinking and I don't like that."

"I kind of get the feeling what he's thinking most of the time is 'Why will no one leave me alone,'" she said honestly , knowing she was totally a hypocrite there.

"Wanting to be alone all the time would be even creepier, don't you think?" Clint asked. "Especially when most of the people here are so nice."

"That's kind of why I like when he'll go out shopping with me," Kitty admitted. "Or how he seems to get along with Mike. It's time he's not holed up somewhere not talking to anyone ever. Yes, I worry too much about other people, I know."
