April had been mostly pleased for her trip home to be over -- even with Jono there, it was still the most boring town on Earth -- but by the time she reached the bar, she was beginning to suspect that she'd been a bit hasty. Boring or not, Pawnee at least didn't make her work, but Caritas did. It was evil like that, really.

Still, she'd been just bored enough over the past few days that she spent today actually making an effort. She even shooed Tino away when he came over to help out, and set up a little sign for the door all by herself.

Yeah, so, Mike was pretty good about minding his own business and not butting into others' same. But he hadn't actually seen Derek since last night, and even though he was pretty sure that was a thing that just happened sometimes, he was feeling pretty twitchy.

So, a walk through town, and the bar. To get his mind off things.

He'd taken a look at the sign on the door, so when he came up to the bar, he'd already decided, "Guess I'm having a drink with champagne in it."

"Anything specific or can I just do whatever?" April wanted to know, selecting a glass before adding as a warning, "I might make it pink."

Totally by accident, too, as she was still a pretty crappy bartender.

Mike huffed out something of a laugh. "I can live with pink," he assured her. It wouldn't be the first time'd he'd drink something that could be considered girly by narrow-minded folks. "Just do whatever. Surprise me, as the saying goes."

"Cool," she decided, and she set off to do just that. After the addition of champagne and a few splashes from different strategically-chosen reddish bottles, she came up with something that was a satisfying magenta, which she slid to Mike across the bar. "'s probably good."

Maybe. Who knew?

"It looks fine." Well. It looked magenta, was what it looked like. He picked it up all the same. It was just booze, after all. "Here goes nothing, right?"

"Good luck," April offered. With a raised eyebrow. Consider yourself challenged, Mike.

Mike used to party with all the strippers in Tampa. This was a challenge he didn't have a problem with.

He downed a nice big gulp of the drink.

"Well, it does kinda taste like you had no idea what the fuck you were doing, but it's not bad."

"That is exactly the impression I go for with, like, everything I do all the time," April said, satisfied. "Go me."

Yes, April, you were super impressive. Really.

"So... did you have a good Christmas?"

Mike shrugged. "Went with Derek and Stiles to spend the holiday with Derek's sister. She's cool, it was fun. You?"

"My house with Jono," she said. "Was less boring than Indiana usually is, I guess."

"Is Indiana really that boring, usually?"

No, actually he was pretty sure it was, even without asking.

"It's the most boring place in the world," April confirmed. "There actually was once a demonstration of paint drying in the park. They sold tickets."

He just gets me.
