Caritas, Friday Evening

Mike was generally punctual with his work shifts, but this week he was actually early. He was just feeling twitchy, and that was best put to work... at work. That was the reasoning that had him here early.

The zombies had been requested to keep it upbeat for tonight, and Mike had a book of cocktails with him. Time to get acquainted with things to put up on the specials board in coming weeks.

Okay, this wasn't Kaidan's usual place. But he actually had some energy tonight, so... why not check it out?

"I'll have a lager?" he said to the guy at the bar. "Import if you've got it."

Mike looked up and put his book down. "Sure, man. Just a sec." People didn't usually order import lagers on his shift, it took him a moment to find a bottle to hand to the guy. "There you go. Not a fan of American beers?"

"I prefer the Canadian kind," Kaidan admitted, "and anything else that isn't the local beer-flavored water."

"Fair enough," Mike shrugged. He had better things to do with his life than judging other people's beer choices. "So are you Canadian, or do you just have a lot of maple leaf sympathies?"

"I'm from Vancouver," Kaidan said. He'd learned to avoid the 'well it's technically the UNAS now...' conversation at this point. "So yeah."

Stiles had spent the week hiding out in Beacon Hills and figured that he should make at least some attempt to get out when he got back to the island. He couldn't hide for the rest of his life. The bar where he could drink was the logical place to go because...he could drink. Duh.

He came in with Puppy Joe tucked under his arm because the little poofball had somehow found his way to Stiles' dorm and he felt bad about leaving him alone when he obviously wanted to see his other daddy. There were zombies in this bar, don't judge him for bringing a dog.

"Hey." Mike tried to not look instantly wary at seeing Stiles. Puppy Joe kind of helped with that, actually. "... Did I leave the front door cracked or something?"

He was rather thinking the dog had escaped than that Stiles had gone to the mansion to get him.

"Dude, I have no idea what he did. I came back to my dorm and he was waiting outside the door," Stiles said, lifting Puppy Joe up a little. "You missed your daddy, didn't you? You're so cute."

Yeah excuse him while he nuzzled the little poofball.

Yeah, Mike didn't even know what. It was a long way for a tiny dog to go, across the island and all. But then, werewolves. Maybe Puppy Joe was just absorbing the weird.

"Okay. We'll at least he didn't get lost."

"Oh my goodness, puppy," Laurie cooed, making grabby hands for Puppy Joe. "Also, hi Stiles, but puppy."

"I'm bored, Mike," Laurie whined, flinging her purse onto the bar for emphasis. "This is a lousy start to 2013."

"How so?" Mike asked with an amused look, swallowing his urge to say it hadn't been the greatest start of the year for anyone, it seemed. "For shame, Laurie, I thought you'd know how to entertain yourself."

"I mean, I do," Laurie said, playing with a cocktail straw. "But I can only do that for so long before I start going kind of crazy. Maybe I should get a hobby where I like, help the needy or something."

Jaina had been struggling with the whole being social thing for a while now, but today she actually wanted to get out for a while.

"Busy night," she noted as she took a seat at the bar.

"Yeah, those actually happen sometimes," Mike agreed. He was actually pretty glad it was this night. He needed the distraction. "The lure of the bar calling everyone out at the same time. What can I get you?"

"The puppy belongs to my housemate," Mike replied, as he set about getting her drink. "He's not usually here, but the kid's watching over him right now, I guess."
