The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

It was a completely normal day at the bar tonight. The DJ was playing a mix of dance songs that didn't offend, Tiny was at the door, Derek was behind the bar and not glaring at everyone.

Well, no more than usual. So.

There was that.

It was almost eerie. Something terrible was bound to happen soon, so keep that in mind. It was a Fandom thing.

Since she hadn't seen Derek at all last week, Kitty sort of wanted to check in and see if he was still being all scary quiet. So she came in today, taking a seat at the bar and noting, "We didn't go shopping."

"Mike wanted to go to Ikea." And they bickered over color. It was super awesome.

"He wants to decorate with the color orange." Derek didn't approve. At all.

"Why would he want to do a thing like that?" Orange was for Halloween and occasionally Wolverine's costume.

"Just a beer, please." Jack enjoyed stalking Lainey sometimes being able to order a real drink. "The music tonight isn't awful. IS the gremlin still in the DJ booth?"

"How long have you wanted to order that?" Derek asked dryly, putting a decent enough domestic beer on the bar for him.

"Since I took the job," Jack admitted easily. "Do you know how annoying it is to be of age at 16 at home, and then have to wait almost four years anyhow after I moved here? It was undignified."

Jack shrugged. "I think so. I don't usually drink to get drunk, anyhow."

He squinted at Derek. "Does anything work on you? Aspirin, even?"

"No. Never really had a need for it," he replied. "Heal too quickly."

Jack frowned over the head on his beer. "I haven't needed it in a year," he mused. "Funny. Hadn't noticed that until you said."

Dance music wasn't really John's genre, but he was tired of the color-changing walls of his apartment.

"Beer, mate," he called, grabbing a spot at the bar. "Preferably something that isn't watered-down piss."

Derek shoved over a halfway decent beer that was on tap. However it would hold up to British scrutiny? Eh.

"'S better than most things you Americans pass off as beer, so I'll need another," he decided. "What is this?"

Alas, the joke was lost on John. "So, what, you're saying American beer is only good once in a blue moon?" he laughed. "I could believe that."
