Devil's Nest, Friday Evening

After one of the most awkward dinners ever, Allie led her mom over to the bar for her shift.

Eric probably would have let her have the night off is she'd asked, but honestly Allie figured this was for the best. Her mother could see more of her life in Fandom and hopefully being at the bar would prevent them from having any more conversations about just what Allie planned to do if she ever got to go home.

Tracy was sipping a cola with a cherry. Alcohol wasn't the big appeal of the evening-- the music, the people, and being with her daughter all far outweighed intoxication.

"Maybe in a while," Tracy agreed, smiling. "Something without alcohol. I barely ever got to drink it before. I don't know how I'd react." She studied Allie. "I've been wanting to say... I'm sorry. For leaving you."

"All true. But." Tracy looked down at her drink. "I should have planned better. Found a way to hide, something, so I'd have time to recover..." She swallowed. "I was so worried about you. But I couldn't think well enough to find another way."

It was the height of irony that everything Tracy had wanted for Allie had happened after they both died. She could still wish she'd done something differently. And yet. "You know I'm proud of you, don't you?"

"Oh? What?" Tracy gave her a curious look.

"Oh!" Tracy's smile widened, and she put her arm around Allie's shoulders. "That's a wonderful idea. Take more than one, though."

Eric and his decidedly smaller-than-Eric companion settled into the VIP Area and began speaking softly to each other in rapid-fire Swedish.

They had a lot of catching up to do.

When the owner of the club and his friend weren't too engrossed in talking, Tracy carefully made her way across the club, standing just outside the VIP area in the hopes of catching his attention. Talking to Allie's employer seemed like a good idea... even though she had to remind herself that she couldn't die again. Probably.

Eric finally glanced up and at Godric's almost imperceptible nod, addressed the woman. "Do you need something?"

"Not as such." Tracy steeled herself and smiled. "I wanted to introduce myself, and thank you for giving Allie a job. I'm her mother, Tracy Sekemoto."

Not a threat, not a threat, not a threat, she had to keep reminding herself. No more than Allie was, she'd said.

"I'm Eric Northman," Eric replied. "As long as Allie works hard, she'll continue to have employment."

"She will. My daughter is tough. And motivated." Tracy's smile was uncertain. "I did wonder-- this True Blood, that you provide for her. Is it likely to ever run out?" And force Allie to attack people again, if it did?

Eric shook his head. "No. And even if that particular brand went bankrupt, the synthetic blood is everywhere in my dimension It's what prompted the vampires to reveal our presence publicly to humans."

Tracy's relief was palpable. "Good. I don't like to think of her putting herself at risk in order to survive here. Things are so much worse for her, back where we come from." Her expression sobered. "I find it hard to imagine. Humans and vampires, without one trying to control the other."

Eric's smile was vague enough to mean anything. No use troubling the dead with vampire politics in a different universe.

"There's plenty of synthetic," he said instead. "We have several vampires on the island, so we stay well stocked."

Tracy nodded. "I appreciate your reassurance." There were a great many other things she could say; but none of them were useful, or tactful, or likely to help Allie. "And I hope you have a good evening."

"You too," Eric replied with a tiny smile.

Because what else was there to say? He wasn't really sorry her daughter was a vampire.
