Jono's head hadn't been screwed on quite properly since the whole ordeal with the dead people, so his casting for Frank had been put off until a little later in the day than he'd expected. And who could blame him, really? He'd had a dead great-granddad of his own to deal with, and, while they'd parted on good terms (and Jono had been ~~handwavily~~ told that one of his relatives was proud of him for possibly the first time in his life), he was still... not quite feeling it, today.

Still, it was only early in the afternoon by the time he put up the cast and crew listing, and then, feeling more or less accomplished for the day, he sat himself down in the lobby with a guitar and just let himself lose himself in his music. That was a good plan, right? Right.

So much cross-casting. So much.

Um, hello, Jono, April totally hadn't auditioned, duh. That had been her cousin. His name was Kyle. And he was a dude.

She squinted at the list, trying to ascertain how to respond to this. Should she throw a muffin at Jono's head? Maybe prank-call his phone as Kyle and express sadness at not having been cast?

Instead she sized up the list for a moment, then crossed her arms over her chest and retreated without a word. Oh, she would get revenge, Jono. Be sure of that.

Revenge.

Lizzie had her own coffee, and was looking over the list with interest.

"Can this Kenzi person also fetch me things?" she asked. Important matters first.

"That's something you're going to have to take up with my personal minion," Jono replied, glancing up from his guitar. "She's been with us here since around the time I got the job as Troy's musical director, so I think the position is more or less hers until she graduates and leaves..."

He'd be so lost once that happened. And once Billy left, too.

"... If you make nice with her, she might be able to be persuaded into bringing you things. I mean, I am paying her for her errand running, here."

"I'm too broke to pay for minions," Lizzie said. "Grad student." She frowned abruptly. "One that needs to figure out when classes start."

It was hard keeping track of what day it was in California, since there were a few months' lag going on. And it almost seemed like it had slowed down lately. But ... that was crazy, right?

"Portalocity should be able to let you know what the time difference is between here and your reality," Jono offered, smiling faintly. "I end up checking all the time, just to make certain it hasn't shot a few years into the future without me. Mine's been behaving itself lately, at least."

That was always a bonus.

"Okay, that's very helpful," Lizzie said, nodding appreciatively. "I just call home and talk to Mom, and have to find ways to ask what day it is. And then she thinks I'm drunk. And then she badgers me about whether I've met a nice boy yet."

She loved her mother. Really. But Mom was best in small doses.

"Does her idea of a 'nice boy' involve space travel or demon hunting? Because guys who don't do one or the other around here are at a premium, it seems."

Jono didn't do either! Usually!

He was also reveling in being single. Sorry, ladies.

"Her idea of a 'nice boy' is anyone who will put a ring on my finger and get me to start pumping out grandbabies," Lizzie sighed. "Beyond 'male' I'm not sure there are any specifics he'd need to fit. In fact, 'male' is probably optional."

No, really. Her mom might faint and pearl-clutch over an "I'm gay" revelation, but if Lizzie met a nice girl and wanted to have grandbabies? Mrs. Bennet would climb onto that train pretty quickly.

Some people just really wanted grandkids. Jono had no idea what was up with that.

"Well, I suppose she's... fairly open-minded in that regard, at least?"

It didn't seem like much in the face of being pressured to have kids, he was sure, but it was better than nothing? Maybe?

"Just be happy she doesn't know you're my roommate," she laughed. "She'd decide you were engaged to either me or Jane and fly out to fuss over you."

Really, Jono. Really.

Really, Jono's apartment had more or less reached its Bennet quota for a while, he was pretty sure.

"Let's keep it that way for a while, then. I don't generally deal well with fussing."

... Jane's fussing was different, on account of her being Jane and that being more or less how she was wired. Plus, she was too adorable to say no to when she wanted to shove cookies at people.

He's playing music. This is his idea of being hard at work today.

Maybe he possibly misses his granddad a little, shut up.

Note 1: It wasn't until after a year of using the meta name that I realized that this show is a classic, and doesn't need to be meta'd. So... Replace all occurences of Earnest with Frank for the duration of the show, since that's been established FH Canon and all for a while now, but for the sake of simplicity, all other names are going to go unchanged. There's a script over here if you want to read it!

Note 2: I think I included everyone who wanted to be involved in one capacity or another. If I missed someone, or dragged someone in under a false assumption or something, my apologies- Poke me here and I'll fix it. Today was a scattered sort of day, whee!
