The Boards, Sunday Evening - Rehearsals
Jono was looking maybe the tiniest bit overwhelmed as he stepped up onto the stage for today's rehearsal.
"Friday is show night," he said, glancing around at his cast. "Don't ask me how th'hell Friday is already show night. I didn't see it coming, either. What that means is that today we're going to run through the final act of the show and finish the blocking, and Wednesday is going to be dress rehearsal."
Don't ask Jono what he thought of the fact that their first full run through the show was also going to be their first and only dress. He'd probably cry a little and lament things like his complete inability to embrace 'time management.'
"When you're not onstage tonight, I want you all running your lines. That includes you, Monsieur Trave-- Tr... Frenchman. No bullying little girls because they offered to help you, this week. Got that?"
Certain members of this cast were going to drive Jono insane.

Arrive/Mingle
It's slightly minimalist this rehearsal. Jono's trying to wean you from wine and sandwiches before dress. You need those vocal cords and that sobriety, damn it.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Lemon water it was.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Never mind the fact that it was the end of break and she wanted to do zero work. She was here.

Talk to Jono!
He's got a couple of hard-light duplicates running around in his office getting tickets in order, and a couple more up in the catwalks adjusting the lights.
Jono himself, meanwhile, is clutching to a cup of coffee like a lifeline and looking... approachable. Ish.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Natalie had seen the duplicates (and remembered the evening of the last show, and how much rushing about he'd done), so she was Just Saying.
Re: Talk to Jono!
No, the thought hadn't so much as crossed his mind. Jono gave Natalie a sort of short-lived deer-in-headlights look, and then attempted something vaguely reminiscent of a sheepish smile. If sheepish smiles came with a slight tic at the corner of one's mouth.
"Christ, I haven't even run a proper sound check yet. Week of the show, we don't get a tech rehearsal, and I haven't run a bloody sound check."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Because seriously, she needed her distractions right now.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Because the week of the show was also an excellent time to spend on an extended romp through Kaeleer, coming up with war strategies. Jono had spread himself far too thin, and now it was finally starting to catch up to him.
"I don't suppose you'd mind showing up early on Wednesday, perhaps? Or staying a little late today? We can run a sound check then, and hope the gremlins don't decide that this is a good week to start chewing on the wires."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
So long as his hard-light duplicates didn't cause a horrible paper jam in his office or something.
"I was going to just sell them at the door on Friday night, but if you wouldn't mind taking a few around and seeing if you can sell them through the week, that would be much appreciated. I'll... get Kenzi on costumes, or Billy. I don't want to bog any one person down."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
A beat.
"... I didn't advertise."
So help him he was going to just...
"I'll shove posters at somebody. I'll make somebody make posters and then have them shove those at somebody to hang up. Or I'll just say something about it on the radio. It'll be dealt with."
Re: Talk to Jono!
"I might set up a table or something in the dorm lobby at some point next week."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Well, Jono, it all started with some tight leather and weird genes...
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Well... If it isn't too much trouble, then... Thank you, I appreciate it so much, Natalie. And I'll try to keep more on the ball come autumn. I can at least pretend I know what I'm doing when it comes to musicals."
Not that he actually had the fall production picked out or anything. He was going to... maybe have to start looking into that soon, too.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
Seriously, after this summer was through, it was possible that Jono would just go into some sort of weird state of theatre manager mourning.
"If you do manage to make time for a visit around show night for... whatever we put on, I'll promo off a ticket for you, though."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Sam.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He sucked at doing that, himself, so he'd understand even then if someone fell out of touch. After all, his own world had thrown him through five years of his life within the span of a few months on Fandom, once. These things... they happened.
Re: Talk to Jono!
It was going to get interesting.
"That's the plan," she said. "But it's a while away still. I don't even know if I'm leaving before the summer's over."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Just like everything else he did, really. If Fandom didn't teach anything else, at least it taught flexibility.
Re: Talk to Jono!
At least she knew she'd stay that long.
Re: Talk to Jono!
It seemed less close when he said 'half a semester' than it did to think about it as two months. A semester lasted ages. A couple of months was over in the blink of an eye.
Semantics.
"The doors will stay open here, in the meantime. That much really goes without saying."
Re: Talk to Jono!
She was almost a liar, making it sound like it was 'just because'. She knew perfectly well why she felt like that.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He tilted his head thoughtfully, and then fished through his pocket, pulling out his keys and holding his spare to the building out to her.
"If the door is locked, this'll get you in, luv. I'll let Lizzie know before I take off again not to panic if she hears piano music while nobody else is around."
Re: Talk to Jono!
"I'll try not to give off the impression of being a ghost," she said. "Thank you."
