Improv Class, The Boards, Thursday Evening
"Good evening, class," Jono greeted the improv group from where he was sitting on the edge of the stage. There was a mildly annoyed looking mouse sitting on top of his head, today, and a three-legged dog dozing at his feet. His cat was sequestered to the upstairs, because even Jonothon could only be so masochistic all in one go. "Today, we'll be giving our brains some exercise again with another one of those messing-with-letters games. Only, this time, instead of making certain we include every letter over the course of a scene, we'll be omitting one entirely. The game is called, 'No P,' and the aim of it is to not use any words that include one letter of the other actor's choosing."
He gave a little smirk, silently congratulating himself for only using the letter in question in order to tell his actors the name of the game itself. It was the little things, really.
"So, break off, groups of two, each of you choose a letter for the other of you, and then let's see a scene, hm?"
[OCD done! Have at thee!]

Arrive/Mingle!
And some tea and coffee.
Re: Arrive/Mingle!
She took a pastry and, while waiting for class to start, checked her phone.
The Stage!

Talk to the Instructors!

And that was why he had two coffees there for himself, today.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Besides, she had a question that she'd have asked earlier but had felt that two nights a week of seeing Jono had been enough. Especially when she'd been missing half her rehearsals.
"Hey," Karina said. "Do you have a few moments?"

Re: Talk to the Instructors!
That was helpful, Jon, really.
"Natalie comes in here all th'time to play, actually. I wouldn't be opposed to extending that invitation to another, really. You know piano?"
Full of surprises, this one.

So steep.

And was it wrong that he was silently hoping that her music was different from what he knew? The prospect of learning new songs was one that always appealed to him, after all.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
She already had an idea of what she wanted to play even!
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Well, he'd leap on it.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Karina took a deep breath and began to play (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZdXKjhpDVQ). After a few measures, her voice joined that of the piano
and totally in English too. What? If she was going to show off Sternbild's music, it was going to be her own first.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
This wasn't going to do anything to dissuade him from picking a musical to do in the fall, no.
As she played and sang, his toe was tapping lightly against the floor. This, he liked.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Karina finished her song with a flourish of notes that weren't technically part of the final piece but felt right to do, here and now.
She ducked her head. "I hope you didn't mind my singing," Karina said, realizing that maybe he would have. Too late to ask permission though.

Re: Talk to the Instructors!
He didn't even know Blue Rose existed.
She wrestled with herself briefly. "I have to admit," Karina said slowly. "That song isn't one you'd hear on the radio at home. I, um, wrote it."
Yeah.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
So every musician he knew on the island was a pianist. It was still nice to know that there were some. And, for that matter, some that would still be around after graduation. Grad had a funny way of sucking the island clean of talent, sometimes.
These things came in waves.
"Talent like that... you should be marketing it," he half-teased. He knew some people didn't take well to the prospect of fame. He suspected that Karina was not one of those people, however.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
He had no idea how far she was going to market her talent. None.
"I plan to," Karina said, smiling. "One way or another, entertainment's going to be my life."
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
She was here first, after all, and had his spare key to the building for whenever she wanted to play.
"If the piano gets much more popular, I might have to invest in a second, at this rate."
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Well, not as Karina at least.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Back in his high school days, he might've tried to coerce her into joining his band. These days, he'd satisfy himself with being able to listen.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Just a bit.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
His time, obviously. Not Fandom's time, so much.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
They were kinda a place that she slept and not much more? Maybe she had to change that a bit.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
Except no.
"Hindsight and its perfect vision, I suppose."
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
"Ball pits are fun if you're, like, five."
Karina was judging you, Jono.
Re: Talk to the Instructors!
"And back in high school, I would've agreed with you," he replied. "And then I would've slunk off to play guitar and lament about how screwed up the world is. Possibly playing Pearl Jam music. Loudly."
That was pretty much his youth in a nutshell, yes.
"... Hell, I still do that. But just letting go and being an immature idiot holds its appeal now and again, too. I still get in snowball fights with friends back in New York."
And he cheated at them, too.
OOC!
