Streets of Fandom; Tuesday Afternoon
Something was wrong.
No, really, Alice knew of this things, and the feeling she was getting was definitely not right. It was a mix of the dead silence of the streets, the emptiness of the streets...she couldn't put it in words, but Alice was very well informed about places suddenly going terribly wrong. And filled with the undead.
Hence the walking. She couldn't -almost prayed she shouldn't- be the only one left, right? She had come to the damn island to avoid that very same thing after all, regardless of just how sociable she was in her best day, but that was something else entirely.
So yeah, Alice was in patrol duty. She supposed that going around town and then to the school was the best way to at least get an idea of what was going on.

No Toby.
Then Bo. Not in her office. Not at home. Not at Devil's Nest. But hey, she could be anywhere, right?
...there was no Jonothon at the Boards.
And she'd heard the Radio broadcast by now. There were way too few people in the dorms!
So seeing someone she didn't know was still a relief. "Jesus, yay, a person. Do you know where everyone is?"
no subject
"Yay indeed," Alice said without much excitement. "Haven't seen anyone yet. Been to the school?"

"Abduction. But it feels like the abducted are more than the ones that stayed here. That doesn't add up."

Oooh, foreshadowy much?
"In which case there might be little for us to do at the moment." Or ever, but she was going to spare Kenzi that thought.

"You're dealing with it better than anyone would, so don't push it. For now we need to find who else is left and stick together."
What Would Ron Swanson Do?
no subject
"Okay," Kenzi said, sounding relieved. She really, really appreciated the reassurance. Alice wasn't Bo, but she kind of thought they'd hit it off.
She was especially glad that she didn't have to go back to the nearly-empty dorm and rattle around in there, waiting to be scooped up, maybe, with no one left to notice. "Okay. Yeah. Maybe tomorrow's Radio will know something. Maybe the squirrels saw stuff."
no subject
That would be a very interesting meeting. Also a rather awkward one, but hey, badass ladies had to stick together.
"Maybe. Maybe someone left knows more about this. Come on, let's keep walking. Tell me about yourself." Keep her talking so she wouldn't freak out on her.
no subject
That they did. And hey, more awkward than waking up somewhere wearing lingerie with only a baseball bat? Probably not.
"Yeah. Maybe?" Right, pretend it's good until it's real. "Umm, I'm graduating next month. No idea what I'm gonna do then. My best friend is one of the Devil's Nest bartenders." And the school security officer, but hey. No reason to give out *too* much info. "I work at Caritas, and the Boards... wow, I should maybe check there, see if the zombies are missing too...."
no subject
"I don't visit the bars here too often," Alice said; she was more of a Drink Alone In Your Room sort of person. "We could check on the zombies, I guess. Places where people gather might have surprises." She only hoped those weren't the flesh eating surprises her world had her used to.
no subject
"I can stay in my dorm room 'til the end of summer, a couple people told me. They'll need the room then for a new student, though, I guess. So I've got a few more months to figure stuff out. Maybe get a job, or a place that doesn't cost much. Otherwise, kinda stuck." Kenzi stretched her arms out, cracking her neck. "I could go back to Canada... that's where I'm from. But, I dunno. I have more friends here. My boyfriend's--" Missssssing! Kenzi swallowed. "Here." Chattering helped her keep it together, but a little other info would help too. "So, you work on the island? Or teach? Not sure I saw you around before."
no subject
She listened in silence, letting her blurt it all out and deciding she didn't need to press about her boyfriend. "Since you work here, getting a room shouldn't be complicated, if staying is what you want," Alice said evenly, well aware she wasn't one to talk. "I work at Freedom Arms, but I think I'll eventually teach. As for not being seen around...I'm not really sociable, which is ironic since I came here to change that. Or at least try."
Now she was in a deserted island. What even.
no subject
"Well, they really like monkey brains." Kenzi made a face. "But if they can't get it, I don't wanna know what they'll start craving."
"I think so?" Kenzi was quiet for a minute, then admitted, "It'll give me more time to figure stuff out. And time with my bestie and boy." She kicked a pebble out in front of her, listening to Alice's level voice describe her own stuff. "What would you teach? Although, gotta tell you, I've taken classes in Friendship and Paranormal Hunting, so, you got options there."
no subject
"That doesn't sound good. Better check on them," Alice said, fearing she would need to shoot them if they had gone savage.
"It's up to you," Alice said quietly. She really didn't want to be responsible of anything. "I would teach...Survival, I guess." It was basically all she was good at.
"A Friendship class?" She almost didn't catch that one.
no subject
"Survival?" Kenzi tilted her head, then looked around. "Yeah. That's a good class for this place. Or, you know, people who get sent here." She grinned a tiny bit at the question in Alice's voice. "Really. Taught by a pink pony and a guy who glares a lot."
no subject
Alice nodded once. "My world is overrun by zombies. No, they don't play music." But the enhanced, overly aggressive ones could take pictures! At least until they got so mad they just killed everything around them, of course. "I've learned a thing or two."
And Alice was just going to stare at Kenzi because the pink pony sounded slightly familiar. "Derek?" He did glare a lot.
no subject
"Whoa. That's ... jeez, I'm sorry." No wonder she was so calm about this. Alice was probably used to a lot worse than an empty street. "I don't know what the story is with the ones in Caritas. They've always been pretty harmless and just smelly since I worked there."
Kenzi laughed, feeling a little better, and said, "Yeah. With the eyebrows? And the monosyllables a lot of the time? It's pretty hilarious when Pinkie gets going on him."
