Luke's, Thursday

The busboy and the dishwasher stood in front of the doors to the kitchen, arms folded over their chests, reflective sunglasses shielding their eyes. When Priestly tried to shoulder his way between them, the dishwasher held him back with a hand to his chest.

"Dude," Priestly said. "That's my kitchen."

"Not right now it's not," the busboy said, and Priestly was pretty sure he practiced making his voice go all deep when he was at home alone. "Cookie has a . . . surprise for you."

"Right. That's not ominous," Priestly said. "I could fire you guys, you know."

The dishwasher just smirked faintly.

"I could," Priestly insisted. "Virginia is an At Will state!"

Luke's was open. Priestly was sulking at the bar counter, and hoping the cook's "surprise" didn't involve anything explosive.

Kitty had spent most of the morning in the office at Caritas, trying to still sort through all the stuff that had fallen by the wayside through sex pollen, dungeon and vacation-related absences, and she needed to get out for a little while.

And she took one look at the sign and said, "I'm guessing it's a good idea to stick with coffee?"

"Ten is somewhere around 'my future daughter from another timeline is dating my best friend's future daughter from another timeline'," Priestly said. "I'm not sure there are actual numbers for the hell dungeon. Just incomprehensible Greek symbols you need an advanced degree to name."

Dean had been spending some quality time with his baby at the parking lot. Seriously, who would be so cruel as to leave a car like the Impala in a parking lot. This island? Was the worst.

"Do I even wanna know about the specials?"

"I would," Priestly said, shooting glares at the kitchen, still being guarded by the dishwasher and busboy. "Mostly so I know whether or not to have extra fire extinguishers on hand."

Dean glanced back at the kitchen. Then took into consideration that he slept above there. "Might wanna do that no matter what."
