The Park, Wednesday evening

As a general rule, Allie really did try to follow a live and let live philosophy with the weirdness that was Fandom. On Wednesday that lasted long enough for one of the flying jalapenos to singe her hair. After that her sword was out and it was game on.

Vampires did not mess around with fire.

There were flying deadly jalapenos out on the town. It was... insane, but also dangerous - so Kaidan had taken it on himself to patrol the island and keep an eye on everyone.

'Course, he hadn't actually accounted for getting caught in a swarm of fire-breathing peppers (should keep that in mind next time). He flailed for a brief moment before throwing up a biotic bubble, violently slamming the jalapenos away from him.

He stood there, a couple of dozen feet away from Allie, surrounded by a blue bubble and a ridiculous amount of... things. Things. Yeah.

The pile of diced peppers was growing near Allie's feet when she finally turned caught sight of Kaidan.

"Effective," she laughed. "But probably not as satisfying as this."

This being an inhumanely fast strike with her sword and the soft thud of a smoking pepper hitting the ground.

Kaidan's eyes darted her way briefly, then he took a deep breath.

A moment later he was shoving the bubble outward. It destroyed several dozen peppers until it thinned out so much that nothing remained, leaving Kaidan panting and looking very-- well, blue-- where he stood. "Allie!"

A last few slashes and it looked like they had a momentary reprieve from flying peppers. Allie was ready to put the sword away yet, but she did tuck it against her arm as she relaxed her stance.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm good," Kaidan said, reaching for his handgun almost immediately. It... looked like a chunk of metal until he brought it out - then it unfolded into a pistol.

"That's amazing," Allie said as she watched the gun unfold. "But are you going to be able to hit these things?"

"I'm not that bad of a shot," Kaidan said, approaching her while the coast was... mostly clear.

"I didn't think so. And give it another minute or so and you'll be able to prove it." The jalapenos were circling across the park from them. Sort of like pissed off fireflys.

"What's up? How'd your class go?" Just friendly conversation while waiting to kill things. As you do...

"It went okay, I think," Kaidan said, checking to make sure the safety was off on his pistol. Then eyeballing those jalapenos. "Most of the kids have some kind of tech experience..."

"That's good. I know if you don't have it, it can be kind of overwhelming. At least at first." Yeah, she was speaking from experience there.

"It's gonna be rough for the kid who doesn't know anything," Kaidan said.

And then he fell silent, because he was too busy picking peppers out of the air.

What Kaidan missed, Allie was going to do her best to take out with her sword. While both staying out of the line of fire and making sure to keep the sword controlled and well away from Kaidan. Accidental slashing of her friend would be a very bad thing.

"Eponine, her first day. Magic, electricity and hot running water. If the poor girl hadn't already been in shock, that would have done it."

Yeah, that... wouldn't be good. As for Kaidan-- well, he wasn't the sharp-shooter Ashley had been. But he could do all right. Didn't mean getting near his line of fire was a good idea.

"Oh, yeah, I can imagine," he called. "Luckily this one's not that bad..."

Allie would heal. But the bottle of True Blood to help it along would be on Kaidan.

"Oh? Where are they from? Or when?"

"From what I can tell, this time," Kaidan said. "But she's a complete civilian--"

Which he was all he got out as he leaped to the ground, dodging an incoming jalapeno.

"So, she'll learn. Unless she's completely against it. In which case someone better fill her in on the dungeon and how the island occasionally tries to eat us."

The jalapeno buzzed by Allie once, uncomfortably close. Fortunately it's second pass was it's last.

"These things are annoying."

Kaidan got onto his feet as fast as he was humanly capable of doing. "You're kidding," he deadpanned, disposing of one hovering by Allie's shoulder with a biotic throw.

"Well how would you describe it then?" she asked, glancing at the now dead critter. "Thanks for that by the way."

"They're dangerous and a pain in the ass?" Kaidan offered.

"Remember, I have a slightly warped sense of dangerous. I don't like the fire, don't get me wrong." A point proven when the next approaching pepper got sliced in two. "But they're not trying to eat me. That's kind of the point where things become dangerous. Pain in the ass though? Definitely"
