The Perk- Thursday afternoon

Today wasn't really different than any other day, or at least that's what Kitty had thought for the first half of it. Then she'd passed by the Perk and saw the sign advertising a sale, so that in fact made today vastly superior to most days.

Or maybe that was the caffeination talking, but whatever, she had a table near the window where she could enjoy her iced coffee. Her second today. Because there was a sale and you took advantage of that sort of thing.

"Sweet, cheap coffee!" Yeah Stiles was the last person who needed more caffeine and he knew it. Didn't stop him from buying an iced coffee and a macchiato. Double fisting that sweet, sweet caffeine.

"Right? I'm going to crash really hard at like 6 pm tomorrow, but it's totally worth it," Kitty said, sipping her coffee.

"Definitely worth it," Stiles agreed as he approached Kitty. "Why don't more people know about this? There should be billboards plastered all over town!"

"I'm going to guess they didn't want to risk breaking any maximum occupancy laws," she totally made up.

"Makes sense. That way leads to messed up orders." he said. "Not that I'd mind if I ended up with some chick's non-fat, no sugar, triple espresso frappe so long as it had caffeine in it."

"That sounds really good. Is that what I should be taking away from that sentence?" she wondered.

"Now's the chance to indulge in your caffeine fantasies, I say go for it," Stiles said. "I mean, the barista might not like such a complicated order but if it's the pervert one I'd be willing to show some skin in order to appease her."

Kitty paused. "I think I missed something there..."

"Oh yeah the one barista here totally groped me during that weekend where Derek and I were engaged," Stiles said. "And she also just happened to be working during both instances of me or Derek being naked in here. Complete pervert."

[throughaphase]

Yeah, still missing info. "You and Derek were both naked in here?" she repeated.

And if she was looking around as if trying to figure out where this happened, well.

"Not together! Just when we turned back into humans after being cats on two separate occasions," Stiles explained. "I at least had a sweatshirt. Derek...Derek did not."

Kitty just resigned herself to the idea that she might have to send a clarifying text to her boyfriend after radio for the second time this week.

"That's a really important distinction, yes," she said. "About the two different times thing, not the naked Derek thing."

Seriously, she was already writing the text in her head.

"Oh god we've never been naked in the same room together," Stiles said, looking grossed out. "I'm still trying to forget the fact that I've seen him naked at all."

He was covered in pastry at the time, it wasn't an attractive sight.

Yes, it was summer, but that didn't mean Clint was taking his coffee any differently than normal - nice and hot with a buttload of sugar in it. "Hey, do you think this stuff is on sale because it's bad?"

That was a question he probably should have asked before he'd started drinking, but oh well.

Kitty looked at her own coffee.

"If it's bad, it's slightly too late now," she decided. "You only live once, right?"

...Well. Okay, she knew as she said that that that wasn't always true. Oops.

"That's what the kids on the internet all say," Clint said, taking a seat next to her. "Have you been tweeting? I don't think that's good for your brain cells."

"I have plenty of brain cells to spare," she insisted. "Which means I had to keep tabs on Priestly's ghost hunt on twitter, yeah."

"Someone tweeted their ghost hunting? Isn't that... I don't even know what that is," Clint said. "Dangerous?"

"Maybe? The only ghost-like person I've really dealt with is me," she said. "But he lived, so."

"That's a good sign, I guess. Speaking of texting-like things," because this was the closest he could get to a segue, "I got your texts yesterday."

"I just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't what it sounded like," Kitty said.

"I knew that, really," Clint assured her. "I just see the word 'Derek' and things go a little red. But I also trust you. The squirrels, on the other hand..."

Aww, she liked hearing that. "The squirrels don't trust me?"

[so_hawkward]

"No, no, I meant I don't trust them," Clint said. "Which sounds really weird, I know, but so does trusting them. And understanding them, a little, because squirrels." Clint looked down at his coffee. "Maybe I didn't need a third cup today."

"It's on sale, yes you did," Kitty smiled. "They blow things out of proportion sometimes, but they do pretty well for rodents. And if there's something that sounds off, you can always ask me."
