The park- Wednesday evening

Kitty was one of those people who was perfectly fine getting some quiet time, especially if it was somewhere pretty. And her apartment was plenty quiet but she also had dishes to do and guess what, no, so she went to the park instead. At least here she could find an open bench and hang out for a while just watching the birds.

And being very amused when one of the ducks wandered close enough that she unthinkingly phased her leg to let him pass, and he did so without a problem. Seriously, shouldn't ducks even find that a little weird? "Well, you have definitely been here too long, little guy," Kitty told him.

Lucky was taking the scenic route on his walk today, right up until he saw Kitty and beelined for her, leading Clint behind him with more force than Clint usually saw. It was pretty adorable, he had to say. "What are you doing?" Clint asked, trying to watch her with the duck.

Well, the duck wasn't going to stick around with a dog around, at which point it passed through Kitty's leg again to head off, quacking. Kitty at least was glad to see them both, though! "I'm learning that the ducks here are just as blase about the weird stuff as the people are," she smiled. "Hi to both of you."

Lucky went over and sniffed at Kitty before letting out a happy bark. "I think he's saying hello too," Clint said. "I think the animals here have to get used to weird too. Like, what do they do when people turn into them?"

"Huh. At this point they probably just roll their eyes and get used to being chased by puppies and kittens a lot more," Kitty said, taking some time to pet Lucky. "Who's my favorite dog? Yes, you're my favorite dog."

Shhh, she liked Lucky.

Oh yeah, Lucky was just going to bask in this attention. She was so much better than a smelly guy in a tracksuit.

"You're being adorable," Clint said, directing that at both of them.

"We love you, too," Kitty grinned. "Sit. I don't think you're going anywhere for a while."

"Yeah, probably not," Clint said, sitting down next to Kitty and petting Lucky. "You know you're too nice for your own good, right?"

[throughaphase]

"If this is about spoiling Lucky, it's because he's awesome, I swear," Kitty told him.

"No, Lucky deserves to be spoiled. Derek, however, is a different story," Clint said with a scowl.

"So far today I've threatened to kick him and lock him in a closet," Kitty said. "You and I might have a different definition of 'spoiling'..."

"Why exactly are you trying to encourage him to talk to Stiles? Don't you think this weekend was awkward enough?" Clint asked. "And not just because I have clothing I can never wear again."

"Because they're friends, and they're my friends, and I don't like seeing both of them upset," Kitty explained. Though it was easier to be hard on Derek since he was the stubborn one. "I totally get freaking out about the weekend, but it's such an easy fix."

Probably. She guessed.

"Can't they just agree it was weird without talking to each other?" Clint asked. "Maybe if they stay away from each other, they won't be married next time this thing happens."

[throughaphase]

"Stiles says there's no shot, if it makes you feel any better. But so what if they are?" Kitty shrugged. "They both seemed happy, and that's the big thing."

"It's not right," Clint insisted. "I know Stiles seemed happy but you don't think that was just a little beyond the weird of the weekend?"

[throughaphase]

"No. A lot can happen in twenty years, Clint. You can't spend the whole time worrying about what two other people do or don't do," she said.

"I can worry about one person now though, can't I?" Clint asked.

[throughaphase]

"Stiles is going to do what he's going to do. Best to not worry too much and be around if he needs it later," she said. And okay, maybe she was realizing that putting herself in the middle of all this again was stressing her out a little. Her own fault.

"I guess," Clint said, because he still couldn't pinpoint why the whole Stiles and Derek situation bothered him. "Okay, so let's focus on the fact that I somehow managed to keep you for 20 years. That's pretty awesome, right?"

That did get a little bit of a smile out of her, even if she was stressed. "You managed to keep me and we didn't want to kill each other. We're kind of great."

Hello, child of an eventually messy divorce.

"And we had Lexi, and a bunch of loyal friends... it was surprisingly nice considering how weird things could have been," Clint admitted.

Kitty looked interested. "How weird do you think things could have been?"

[so_hawkward]

"Like, Natalie was some kind of rockstar with a different name," Clint said. "We could have been married to different people. We could have still been living in Fandom, I think some people had never left. That's downright crazy."

[throughaphase]

"The thought of us being married to other people is really weird," Kitty admitted after a moment. How awkward would the aftermath of that be? "I don't know that staying is that crazy, though. I mean, I apparently went back to the X-Men. That's about the same thing."

"You can take the girl out of the superhero organization but you can't make her stop being a superhero," Clint pointed out. "I...I mean." Okay man, you'd started this thought, might as well finish it. "Right now, I can't imagine anyone else I'd want to be married to either."
