April was fresh from employee training at her new job, which meant that she was suffering from a slight case of being covered with cat hair. April didn't mind, though. Tino, however, was apparently very allergic to cats, and was distraught to find that for once, April actually wanted him around.

Because of the allergy. Not for any other reason.

"Ew, Tino," April drawled as he sneezed about six times in succession into his shirt and started to pull it off. "What the hell. No one wants to see you shirtless. Leave it."

He left it. But only because he knew that if he said no, April would probably hug him.

"Beer me."

That was hello in Sarah speak. Maybe.

What a coincidence! It was hello in April speak too.

She slid a beer (the decent, Englishman-approved kind -- being a bartender and friends with Jono taught you things) across the bar to Sarah.

"You allergic to cats?" she wondered. Seemingly out of nowhere, yup.

Sarah snorted, as if the question was dumb somehow. Even though she had no real reason to think that. "No. Why?"

April was spared having to answer that thanks to a sudden, violent sneeze from Tino.

Then to make sure it was completely clear, she picked some cat hair off her shirt and placed it delicately on Tino's arm.

"Ohh." Sarah got it. Mostly. She schrunched up her face in confusion. "Why the fuck are you covered in cat hair? Did Cliff change species or something?"

April snorted. Although, well, this was Fandom. It could happen.

"Got another job," she explained. "Pet shelter on Serendipity. The cats are really into me."

And lint rollers were for wimps.

"... Why would you get another job?"

Sorry, Sarah barely wanted to deal with just the one. Well, techically two. But she hadn't been heroing a lot lately and anyway, that was a different thing.

April shrugged. "I dunno, I like animals and stuff," she said. Well, it was kind of a mumble, but she did that sometimes. "And I'm saving up for an XBox One so I can get drunk and flash the creepy monitoring system."

"Fun," Sarah drawled, toasting her with the beer bottle. "I'd just make the games play themselves."

Of course, not everyone had her powers.

April considered that. "Is that fun?"

Sarah shrugged. Vaguely. "Well, you get to just sit back and watch, and cheer at how fucking great you are."

April grabbed a beer for herself, passing it Tino's way so he could open it. Tino seemed used to this treatment, though he did fumble a little with the cap before passing it back.

"Isn't that pretty close to playing normally, though?"

"Except I wouldn't have to actually do anything."

Did you really want her to actually play, April? Sarah was quite obviously a person who threw controllers.

"Point." April shrugged one shoulder an infinitesimal amount. "I think video games are like the one thing I'm not too lazy for."

Well, and herding animals.

"Well, then I can just make you do all the playing." Saving her the trouble of even using her powers! Amazing how that worked out. "All my problems solved, right there. I'll drink to that."

"Yeah, I'd do that," April decided after taking a moment to consider it. Or fake-consider it. It was hard to tell. "For ten bucks an hour. Plus beer."

There was a snort. Served with an exaggerated look of 'I really don't think so' because Sarah's face was expressive. "I'm not paying you!"

"Guess you're gonna have to cheat your own video games, then, bro," April concluded, biting down on a drink stirrer. Never mind that she was drinking beer. "Sucks."

"Joke's on you," Sarah decided with a drawl. "I don't even fucking play video games."

It was for everyone's best, really.

"You know there're some, like, awesomely violent ones, right?"

Somehow she had thought that would be Sarah's thing.

There was sound enough logic to that idea, but Sarah still shrugged, wrinkling up her nose. "Really only care for that stuff when I'm actually doing it, if I'm honest."

"That sounds like it'd be more effort," April pointed out. She hummed thoughtfully for a moment, then added, "Jono keeps telling me he'll take me to kick some bad guys' asses in his New York, but he's busy fighting a war or some shit now."

"Goes with the job." And random bar fights hadn't been a thing since Guy had taken off. "Not sure I recommend it."

"I'm pretty strong," April objected. "And I can insult people till they cry with eighty percent accuracy."

Sarah, that noise you just made was not very respectful.

"Yeah, I'm sure that helps when you've got bloody Slicefist coming at you."

April set her chin on her hands with her elbows on the bar, considering it. "Are his fists the only part of him that are slicey?"

"Yeah." Hence the name. Some of the villains didn't get very creative. "But they're pretty fucking slicey."

"So I could kick him, obviously," April said. "Or stay at a distance and shoot him or whatever. I dunno."
