The Perk, Saturday Morning

Derek was back at the Perk today. Because he didn't have much of a life outside of serving coffee, stripping, and finding love.

So much love.

Poorly written, slow-motion love.

Anyway, today he was sighing at the coffee pot. Possibly because the fangirl this time didn't know what everything behind the counter was called. Just go with it.

Also, she knew way too much about that for your comfort probably, Derek.

"I need you to sign this cup." Kenzi held up a grande cup and a Sharpie. "'With love.'" She paused. "And maybe two or three others."

Mira got yelled at for her lack of work yesterday, which she only got through by having a change of heart with accompanying dramatic, grammatically questionable monologue. So here she was, working her little heart out pouring coffee from things into other things, and then maybe even from those things into yet more things. And eventually giving them to people in exchange for money.

Still with leather and attitude, though.

Firefighters didn't earn much money, so Jack had a shift here too. Naturally. He spent most of his time rearranging the pastry case and staring dreamily at assorted customers and coworkers. So much could happen between any of them, if things were just a tiny bit different!

Petra clocked in, tied an apron around her waist, and fussed with the milk frother for a few minutes before she seemed to click off autopilot and asked the room at large, "Wait. Do I work here?" Something seemed off about that somehow.

"Hmmm, okay, we'll add that onto the betting board," Kenzi said, looking considering. "I mean, I'm pretty sure this is Island weirdness in effect. And our lovely visitors-- have you talked to them? But still. I'd find this whole thing more plausible with drugged coffee in the mix."

He stopped there, voice trailing off as he squinted into the distance.

Jaye worked here now. Because of course she did.

And it was entirely possible she didn't realize she didn't normally work here, because she was so used to hanging out behind a counter with her name on her shirt that she looked totally natural, playing on her phone and trying her best to ignore customers.
