Atlas Gym, Monday

Natasha had gotten to the gym early on Monday to make sure everything was in order before she opened the place, by which she meant 'no one had wound up having sex on the mats.' She'd deep cleaned worse, but she would prefer not to, thanks.

She would have to thank Clint for remembering to take his party elsewhere. It would make a nice segue into 'so I really ineffectually tried to hit on your girlfriend.' She had no idea what had been going on with that; she was usually much better at both seduction and first aid.

As it was, she was distracting herself with regular cleaning, interspersed with paperwork and texting Clint.

To be honest, Kitty felt really weird being in here, but she'd told herself that she should put on her big girl pants and try not to just avoid the hell out of everything.

Maybe she should have reconsidered that, or at least left the big girl pants at home.

"Uh, hey."

"Kitty, hi," Natasha said pleasantly, her reaction and tone not at all suggesting the awkwardness of Saturday. Natasha had a lot more experience at 'everything is fine and we are not talking about what just happened' than most people, after all. She did have to bite down on the desire to assure Kitty she wasn't a total idiot who didn't know how to do first aid, though. "Can I help you with something?"

"No, I was just here for a workout." Strange, it was like she had a bunch of bad feelings to take out on an innocent punching bag or something. "Thought I'd say hi, and, you know. Thanks."

And then it'd mean she could feel not awkward going to the housr!

"Should you be working out so soon after getting stabbed?" Natasha asked, like that had ever stopped her.

She completely sidestepped around the thanks. Natasha was uncomfortable accepting gratitude, especially when she knew she hadn't done her best. Even if she'd been inexplicably incapable of doing her best at the time.

"Oh, it's fine. It healed right up when things went back to normal." For emphasis she even poked herself in the side to show that it didn't hurt. "I guess even Fandom weirdness has a bright side?"

"Usually it's that it ends," Natasha agreed. "Glad to see it worked out well for you this time."

"I don't think I'd go that far," Kitty said after a moment. "How about you? Doing okay?"

Because it was weird seeing Natasha... however she'd been the other day.

"Oh, I'm fine," Natasha said, waving one hand as if to dismiss the whole thing as no big. "I'm sorry I wasn't myself. No idea what was up with any of that."

"From the sound of it, we had superfans trying to control us with superpowers?" she said, frowning. "Basically the whole town was nuts. Well, most of it."

"Well, that would explain a few things," Natasha said. "Like why I suddenly decided to run around in black leather." The rest of it still didn't make much sense to her, but then she didn't have much experience with the behavior of fans.

"But it's so handy when you're just running around town doing your thing," Kitty said with a little smile.

"It probably would have been more handy if I hadn't been acting so unlike myself," Natasha said. "I promise I usually know my way around a stab wound better than that."

Yes, this was the most important thing for her to clarify.

Kitty grinned. "I trust you there. And I won't even tell anyone about that."
