Devil's Nest, Friday Evening

It was a surprisingly quiet night at the bar. The DJ was playing some sort of generic pop and Allie was quietly muttering at her phone. Stupid game.

[OCD free! SP is the name of the game since I'm in the car on the way to vacation.]

"Hey," Kaidan greeted quietly, settling down at the bar in front of her.

"Hey yourself," Allie replied with a smile. "What's up?"

"Not much," Kaidan admitted. "Figured I'd stop by since it's been a while since I did. How're you doing?"

"I'm fine. It's been quiet mostly. Well, other than the sharks last week." It was like the island felt bad about the previous weekend and sent a form of violent vampire therapy.

"I... think I was gone for that one," Kaidan admitted. "I've been on and off the island a lot lately."

"I figured as much since I haven't seen you," she nodded. "Everything okay?"

"Everything's fine," Kaidan was quick to assure her. "Just the usual. Mostly debriefings. A couple of missions. Mostly routine. I didn't get shot or anything."

Allie had figured as much, but being told it was a fact was doubly reassuring. "Good. And I can safely say that I'm in one piece. The sharks that turned up last Sunday, well, they weren't so lucky."

"Yeah, what happened with that? Because that sounds a little... uh... insane."

"No idea," she said honestly. "It must have happened earlier in the day. I just deadly with some of the stragglers in the Preserve."

"Straggling sharks in the preserve," Kaidan repeated.

Allie shrugged. "Because those are any more unbelievable then tiny animals randomly appearing or any of the other weird crap that happens around here?"
