"What use is sitting alone in your room?"

Sparkle was cleaning shop at Demon Marcus today. With all the newbies running around, it wouldn't do to have the place a mess, after all.

"Come hear the music play!"

He'd already filled a box with empty hangers, and was now prancing around the store with a featherduster, alternating between actually using it and singing into the handle like it was a microphone.

"Life is a cabaret, old chum! Come to the Cabaret!"

Just wait until it was time to break out the Windex.

"Oh no," Sparkle replied, raising both eyebrows and making a point to look as faux-innocent as he could manage. "I wouldn't dare tell you what I really think of you."

Because he enjoyed breathing.

But that was assuming she cared what he thought of her. Spoiler: she didn't. Oodles of confidence, this girl had.

"Smart," she quipped. "But that's not even really relevant to me. I'm just here to check up on you because of Alec."

Who, by the way, didn't know she was here. On the island. At all.

"And here I thought you just cared that much about our upcoming fall fashions," Sparkle replied, his tone a little dry. "Why, did Alec say something about me that you didn't like or something?"

"No," she replied with a light shrug. "Isn't the fact that you're still around reason enough to come on by?"

The clothes were fine, though, too.

"Must be, since you're here." Sparkle gave her a bit of a side-eye, and then, deciding that no clothing rack was going to save his ass if she decided to kick it, figured he might as well sit down and hopped up to seat himself on the counter. "That some kind of sport where you're from? Mundie terrorizing?"

He'd love to see the scoreboard for something like that.

"Oh but I'm not terrorizing you, am I?" Isabelle asked lightly. Like she had no idea what he was on about. "We're just having a friendly chat."

"Riiiiight." Sparkle was totally convinced. See how totally convinced Sparkle was? "So, what are we going to chat about all friendly-like today, then? Since there's no terrorizing going on here, and all."

"I'm not staying." Of course not. She'd made her point! Which had largely been about making her presence known. "I just dropped by, I still have a lot of other places to visit. I figured I should familiarize myself with the island now that I'll be living here, don't you agree?"

"Oh, wholeheartedly," Sparkle agreed, his tone flat. "Well, then. Don't let me hold you up. It's a small island, but you've probably got plenty of familiarizing to do."

He waved a hand toward the door.

"Go forth. Familiarize."
