It had been kind of a rough night in terms of sleeping, so Stiles needed caffeine even more than usual today. He noticed the nemeton stuff didn't have any set pattern so far, so there was no way he could try any prevention from the nightmares. So he looked tired, but not overtly traumatized as he sat as his table.

Which might be in part due to the fact he was texting with a small smile on his face. He was skipping out on the fall trip, instead letting himself be dragged along with Lydia and Allison somewhere in California. He'd see Scott too, of course. If it was on Lydia's extensive itinerary.

Kitty was trying to get everything done this week so she didn't feel bad about leaving all next week, and so at some point, this meant getting coffee so she could face her office for the rest of the day.

"You look happy," she said, coming over with her drink.

"Hey," Stiles greeted. "I'm talking to Lydia."

He said that like it explained everything.

It kind of did. "Well, hello to Lydia," Kitty said, taking a seat. "How's she doing?"

"Fine. For Beacon Hills." Always had to clarify that. "I'm going to spend next week with her and Allison."

[throughaphase]

"Everything okay?" she asked, just a touch cautiously. Sure, his dad said it was quiet, but there was still a little worry there.

[robinonadderall]

"Oh yeah, everything's fine," he said. "We're just going to hang out, gather stuff for college applications. Decidedly non-werewolfy stuff."

[throughaphase]

"Oh, good." Was that relief? Just a little, yes. "Sounds like it'd be nice to have some calm, normal time."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah. Sucks I'm missing out on Italy but the last full moon kind of sucked so staying away from werewolves seems ideal," Stiles said. "Besides, I need to plan out this college stuff if Derek and I are going to road trip to do campus visits."

That was only a little weird to hear after finding out about the whole crush thing...

"You're going on a college road trip with Derek?" Now she was trying to picture Derek going around to colleges.

[robinonadderall]

Stiles nodded. "I figure it'd help him out of this 'Stiles is going away to college, we're never going to talk again' thing he has. And I'd like a second opinion when it comes to choosing where I want to go."

Yeah, totally awkward that she knew.

"Where are you looking?" she wondered.

[robinonadderall]

"South Florida, UC Irvine, University of Maryland and I might look at one in the Midwest." Just to make sure he visited a good chunk of the country. "I'm looking at places that have good criminology programs."

[throughaphase]

"Awesome," Kitty smiled. "I will always pimp out Chicago for that but I'm biased. So that's what you want to get into?"

[robinonadderall]

"Pretty sure, yeah. Follow in the family footsteps and all that," he said. "That is if I survive my senior year, of course."

[throughaphase]

"You'd better," she said immediately.

[robinonadderall]

"Don't worry, it's a goal of mine," Stiles assured her. "I'm pretty sure if I died, Derek would resurrect me and then kill me again."

[throughaphase]

"And then I'd have to smack him and no one wants any of this," Kitty said.

[robinonadderall]

"True. Better if I stay alive," Stiles said. "How have you been?"

[throughaphase]

"Good. The weekend was actually better than expected, now I'm just getting ready for the trip. So overall, I'm good with things." If it sounded like she thought that was still a little weird, well. It never stayed that way.

[robinonadderall]

"It's weird when things are good," he noted. "Maybe it's good that I'm never going to be good. Then it won't be weird."

There, silver lining.

[throughaphase]

"I'm sure you'll be good at some point," Kitty told him, not at all because it made her sad to think he wouldn't, really.

[robinonadderall]

"You know it doesn't work like that." She had been in the vet's office that night after all.

[throughaphase]

"I'm sure there's at least some point where you can be used to it enough to get good." She really did believe that, at least.

[robinonadderall]

"I hope so," he said. "I'm just glad my roommate seems to be a heavy sleeper because I know I was waking Derek up when I had nightmares."

A pause.

"He was sleeping downstairs."

[throughaphase]

"I figured," she said, but was frowning. "They're that bad?"

Guilt guilt guilt.
