Okay, as far as first holidays out of the country went? Italy had been awesome. But there was something to be said too for how returning home, to one's own bed.

... Scott wasn't going to dwell too much on the fact that he'd come to think of Fandom as familiar enough to feel like coming home. Yeah, he still missed Beacon Hills and not-future-Stiles and his mom and everything, but. Fandom was cool too.

He was, however, gonna be mildly entertained by the parrot who kept exclaiming "You're a bird!" to him anytime he passed by. Well, right up until he heard the bird mutter to himself, when Scott was just about out of earshot, "I'm a bird."

Ever since Stiles had gotten back from Beacon Hills his whole nemeton deal had been turned up to eleven and he knew he was looking kind of rough. So he decided to seek out the one person who probably wouldn't ask too many questions about it because he didn't feel like being nagged at today.

Besides, he felt a little guilty about not being around Scott a whole lot.

"Stiles!" Scott beamed at him. Future-Stiles was definitely a point in Fandom's favor too. Like, yeah, he'd obviously gone through some stuff (would go through some stuff? time travel was weird), but at the core there was still the same Stilesy Stilesness, and that was all that mattered. "You looking to adopt a pet?" he asked, not knowing that Stiles more or less shared custody of the fluffball that had come to visit him not too long ago.

"Nah, I pretty much have a dog already with Derek," Stiles said. "And Puppy Joe's the jealous type."

But usually only when it came to Scott. Which Stiles was not about to explain.

"I was just coming in to see how you were. Did you go to Italy with everybody else?"

"I couldn't really pass up the chance at a holiday in another country," Scott admitted. "Does the school do that all the time?"

"Usually twice a year," Stiles said. "Last spring we went to Turkey. And I made out with a girl in a club there."

He figured Scott would appreciate that.

"Awesome," Scott declared approvingly. "So how come you didn't go on this one?" he wondered.

"I want back home to see you." Which was only a half-truth because he had spent most of his time with Allison and Lydia. "The other you. You know what I mean."

"Awww," Scott said, oddly touched by that. "Well, thanks. On other-me's behalf."

"Oh no problem, dude," Stiles said even though hanging out with Scott was up there with breathing when it came to things he needed to do. "Speaking of spending quality time together---there's a Halloween party at the mansion down the road. On Halloween, obviously. You should stop by."

Scott was about to ask if they were actually invited to this party or if it'd just be one of those "show up and hope no one kicks them out" situations when he remembered that this wasn't Beacon Hills. Neither of them were persona-non-grata (not that Scott knew that particular term, exactly) on the social scene here. "For sure, man. Should I bring anything? Like, chips? Or..."

"Just don't forget to wear a costume. Don't be the lone guy without a costume." That was Derek's job. "I already have dibs on Frankenstein's monster though."

"I thought Frankenstein was the monster?"

Because of course he did.

"Nah, man, Frankenstein was the doctor that made the monster," Stiles said. "The monster was just called the monster."
