Homecoming Brunch, The Park, Sunday Morning

The glitter was relatively modest for the brunch, by Fandom terms -- which still left enough on the statues moved over from the dance and other decorations to blind a small child. Italian opera played softly to match the classical theme, and space heaters had been set up under the tent to fight the late-October chill. It was, overall, a tasteful arrangement -- at least, if you ignored that the classical figures were wearing glitter underwear.

There was no side-stepping the glitter, at least as far as Ben could tell. He glanced around for more people he knew as he wandered through the brunch.

He'd heard the younger version of his father was here, but he'd missed seeing him at the dance.

There are plenty of warm beverages and an emphasis on comforting pastas mixed in with the breakfast standards today, but also the usual Fandom spread of a bit of almost everything. Nom.

This was like being back in Italy again, which was why Cade had added a dollop of gelato to his giant mug of espresso.

Mmmm, best hangover cure. That punch had been strong.

"Cade, right?" He'd started coming to school before Karla had graduated, but she hadn't exactly been making friends her last year.

Riley hadn't made it to the dance last night and he didn't really mind that. He wasn't a dancer and he'd been busy with his book anyway.

But, the allure of free food had called to him so he was out at the brunch, snacking away.

Sarah hadn't even been to the dance, either, but she knew this school and could see the decorations right now, so she felt the question was warranted, as she made her way to the food tables.

After chanting and performing rituals a lot at his blood-stone circle, Cecil finally sucked it up and went to the brunch. He was on Student Council after all, so it was sort of expected. And maybe the Elder alumni had all left already?

He was bundled up in about four layers again, including a really warm hat and scarf and flip-top gloves, because really, this was so cold! Foucault was with him, and he even had a scarf; Cecil figured that long neck might get cold, and Foucault seemed to like it.

Cecil went straight for the coffee and hot chocolate and made himself a sort of mocha that was nice and hot, then got a little bit of everything. Except for eggs; he wouldn't ask Foucault to share those.

Karla had stopped to stare at the...thing...the kid was holding--was it really a bird? Really?--until she heard the kid talking to....whatever it was.

"Excuse me," she asked politely. "Are you the radio broadcaster? Cecil?"

Mira was slightly annoyed, if not necessarily surprised, that none of the visitors in town had bounties on their heads. But whatever, she could live with that as long as she had some brunch food.

Mat had found a seat where he could rest his feet--he hadn't danced like that in a long time--and see if there were any faces he recognized.

If there weren't, he'd content himself with admiring the pretty girls. Just because he was married didn't mean he was dead.

Theo wasn't used to it being this chilly in October. He'd bundled himself up in a hoodie and was drinking something warm while he relaxed at one of the tables.

Cecil sat down by the only other sensibly dressed person he could find. "Is it always this cold?" He curled one hand around his mug and shared a piece of bacon with Foucault with the other.

Jim was taking up a lot of space at his table. He'd kicked his feet up in a chair and had his food spread out across the entire table.

And he was perfectly fine with that.

Jessica had been checking her phone periodically just to make sure nothing too crazy happened back home during Homecoming.

She wasn't going to blame herself for not knowing about this one. This one was on Officially Ex-President Cap for taking her off SHIELD active duty. She didn't get any reports about the near-disaster in Sacramento or Cap's resignation until now.

And because of that, she was going to eat a bunch of eggs and figure out how to convince Director Chang to make her active again.

Ah yes, the food made this an event much more worthy of attending than the dance had been. Sarah claimed herself a table and stuffed her face in a very un-ladylike manner.

Luke sat down with his mug of hot chocolate and some breakfasty things (don't ask what, he didn't pay that much attention) and looked around the park, enjoying the atmosphere.

It was nice to relax for a bit.

Jaina had time before work, so she headed down to the brunch, figuring she could see if there was anyone she hadn't had a chance to talk to before now. Plus, food. She got a plate and headed to a table to watch the crowd.
