Streets of Fandom, Saturday evening and night

This time Drac had heard the radio announcement and he was not best pleased at being threatened. He'd been through this already and definitely knew what to do...

Grab Mavis and run away.

Only, this time there were more monsters here that he worried about. And apparently they were out there in the streets, fighting. That was insane! Right. Well, then. Time to go get everyone. And if they didn't want to get away and be safe... there was always the option to hypnotize them. Someone in this town had to show they cared about them, after all.

So now Drac was walking the streets, a very grumpy modded Mavis tailing behind him, and collecting various students and other fellow monsters. He figured he could take them back to the hotel and contact their families from there.

...

He was going to be a very upset vampire when he finds out there are no Portals connecting to his Transylvania for at least two weeks.

[open! It's note necessary, but if you want Drac to hypnotize your character into joining, let me know! Also, any attacks? Drac will totally fend off, dunworry kids! Mavis modded with permission]

Raven had only just managed to psych herself up for going out onto the streets and seeing if she could help out. Sure, she'd faced down the guys at the dig site earlier in the week pretty much just for kicks, but that was before people were being attacked and dying -- however temporarily. But she was strong and quick and she could help, so finally she decided to head out and see what she could do.

She didn't expect the first person she saw to be her old teacher.

"Mr. Dracula. Are you going to help, too?"

"Well, I guess," Raven said. Odd, she hadn't figured Dracula for much of a fighter. "But -- I was going to go out towards the preserve. Where are you heading?"

"I wasn't going to hide there," Raven protested -- though, really, it'd be pretty easy for her to do, she'd just take the form of a nice, big alot so none of the predators would bother her. "That's where they've been digging for the vault. I was going to go and . . ." She maybe hadn't thought this bit through well enough. ". . . sabotage the equipment or something."

She frowned, catching up with what his game plan was. "Wait, you're going to leave? That's not helping!"

"As much as I'd love to see your hotel sometime, Count Dracula," Raven said, and it was true, she'd love to visit it! "I'm not going to run away. Not again. I'm not a kid any more, I can fight back, now, and I want to help."

"Story of my life," Raven said, with all the haughty confidence of a teenager. Her eyes shifted to their natural gold as she started to get a bit riled up. "They're not going to stop if we hide away from them. We have to show them we're not going to take it. We have to make them stop."

It wasn't that Evan was out looking for trouble, really. It was just that... well, things seemed to be getting worse, and Evan hadn't quite been able to repair his rocket boot, so getting out to fly recon just wasn't happening tonight. But he was being careful! He really was! He wasn't using one of the guns, no, because he didn't trust those things at all, but when you could shapeshift your arm into pretty much any weapon you wanted, who needed guns anyway?

He'd already clonked a few of the crazy villains who were roaming the streets over the heads tonight, and was actually kind of feeling like he was making some kind of difference. Which was a nice change, compared to spinning his wheels, wondering if he was really was just the monster everyone accused him of being.

The eye-beams that he was firing at the next psycho to run at him were probably visible before he was. But at least he seemed to be holding his own fairly well tonight?

Oh. Oh, wow, that was a tone that Evan hadn't heard since that one time he'd accidentally hit a baseball into the chicken coop. Pa had lectured him for a solid hour about not playing where it could hurt the animals, and that whole experience hadn't even been real.

The look of absolute chagrin on Evan's face as the last psycho collapsed and he turned to face Dracula said volumes about the fact that he wasn't generally scolded often, at least.

"Professor Dracula! I- I was just..." He looked around at the handful of fallen villains and winced. "... Yeah. I was. They were hurting people, and I thought..."

He shrugged his shoulders a little. Finishing sentences tonight was a tricky proposition, apparently.

"No, I just... They hurt Sholeh," Evan muttered, staring at the ground, shamefaced. "And I know that doesn't make hurting them okay, but they don't stop. They just keep coming and coming and hurting people who didn't do anything and and and this is our home! It's supposed to be safe!"

He'd spent hours on Thursday night, trying to coax Sholeh back to some semblance of living, promising her that he'd do everything that he could to make it safe again so she could stop being afraid.

"She's not injured physically anymore," Evan murmured, ducking his head a little lower. "But she was shaken... really badly."

Which was kind of understandable when you were slowly killed all up out of nowhere.

"I wanted to give her some peace of mind. I thought... maybe if I could get some of these guys off the streets..."

Vigilante justice was still justice, right? It seemed to work for the X-Men.

... Ish.

Not very well.

So, the fun thing about crazy psychos, besides the insane stuff they said all the time? Clinging to their backs like a monkey while stabbing at them. The other nutballs in their gangs didn't really know how to react. Half of them were content to watch the show, shouting insults and/or encouragement and the other half tried to help, usually by trying to stab or shoot or hit her. Of course, all Zee had to do was let go of her current victim before the blow connected, and suddenly there was either one more incapacitated psycho or a fight broke out between them.

It was a brilliant plan, truly.

"How do you like this, douchnozzle?" she yelled while her current mount flailed about wildly with a crowbar. "Go the fuck home!"

Zeela probably could have been discovered in any number of more decorous positions than the one Drac and his little group of grumpy ducklings found her in. She had her legs wrapped around a biker's waist, one arm in a chokehold around his throat, the other knotted in his hair, and her knife was sticking up out of his shoulder.

"Let me go, Mommy!" he was bellowing. "I won't eat Sissy's pet bunnies no more, I promise!"

Zeela didn't seem inclined to let go. She was contrary that way.

"It's not--" grunt "--like I was playing--" wheeze, snarl "--a very nice person anyway!"

...She had you there, Drac.

"Don't know where you got that impression from...sir!" Zeela called, where she was now trying to throttle the guy with her elbow. "And they understand why I'm out here!"

Didn't agree with it, no. Certainly weren't fond of it. But they understood.
