Kenzi had had the weirdest dream last night... although she couldn't remember it all. Something about a dance. A rose.

That guy from Galaxy Quest? WTF.

So tonight she was going easy on the specials.

"That's a terrifying special, Kenzi," Bruce noted as he took a seat at the bar.

"It's meant to erase my nightmares and replace them with yours," Kenzi said cheerfully. "So feel free to unload."

"Well, I have a recurring one about the time my parents were killed in front of me when I was ten," Bruce said. "Never quite been able to shake that one for some reason. Is that good enough?"

"Dude," Kenzi said in dismay. She ducked down and came back with a tall bottle that smoked and sparkled. "That gets you a shot of the good stuff, sheesh. That's worse than amnesia and being on Dancing With the Stars without knowing the steps."

"Fortunately, stuff like that right there helps," Bruce said.

Kenzi poured a frothy, shimmering shot, then slid it over to him. "Sorry about your parents. That blows. A lot."

"It was a long time ago," Bruce said. "It's better now than it was back when I was in school."

"Because you can drink legally?"

"And time heals wounds to a degree," Bruce said before raising his glass to take the shot.

When he put the glass down, it was empty. He must have drank it, right?

Either that, or he was ~~Batman!~~ maaaagic.

"Yeah. To a degree." Kenzi paused, thinking. Kinda wondering if it was sadder that she probably wouldn't have nightmares if her mom died. Maybe.

"Do you ever have the naked in public nightmare? I love that one, as long as I have shoes."

"I have naked in public dreams, but they're not exactly nightmares," Bruce said.

Kenzi toasted him with her cola. "I should've put dreams on the specials board as well as nightmares. That's way better than getting lost in a maze with a monster. You want another shot?"

"I'm playing fair. The board doesn't say dreams, so no shot for me," Bruce said. "I'll have a 7 and 7, though, just to mix things up."

"Comin' up!" Kenzi got down a larger glass and started fixing the drink. "So how goes the charitable billionaire biz?"

"It goes well," Bruce said. "It's amazing how much money you can give away in a given day if you try hard enough."

Kenzi handed over the drink. "Oh, I dunno, I bet I could give away a lot... of course, a ton of it would be to my favorite people. Who's this week's main beneficiary?"

"Overall? Gotham City orphanages," Bruce said. "Out of this branch, though, I'm going to be giving money to the Baltimore PD. It seems like hey have more to deal with thanks to Fandom residents than they should have to worry about."

Kenzi's eyes widened a touch, and she slurped on her drink. "Oh really? Like how?"

"Superheroes generate a lot of paperwork, and it's where our local people tend to go for a night out," Bruce noted.

"Soooo true... wait, superheroes?" Kenzi looked gleeful. "I haven't run into any!"

...that she knew of. Unless we were counting Bo?

"You're not paying attention to the proper news sources," Bruce said. "I come from a world with a lot of costumed types. I know the signs by now."

"I so need to renew my subscription to the Weekly World News, don't I?" Kenzi asked, reaching for the bowl of bar pretzels. "What kinda costumed types are from your world? My world just has weird fairy types."

Fae didn't like being called that. Which would not stop Kenzi.

"Pretty much everything from science accidents with super speed to invulnerable aliens to demons," Bruce said. "We have no shortage, really."

"Wow, so, a lot like here. Only more so." Kenzi shrugged. "Could be fun, I guess. I'd want an edge, though. Like a rocket launcher."

Possibly with extra pillows.
