Yeah, so it was a day early for Sparkle's usual shift. Did he look concerned about that fact? Nope. People were going to be needing clothing today, after all, and he was the weekend guy at the clothing store. Coming in to work today wasn't just an excuse to get more hours on the clock, it just made sense.

So Sparkle was in and putting out a display of women's underthings, mostly in generic sizes, like boyshorts and sports bras. For a demographic of people on the island who really only had to worry about this kind of thing for a few days every year, they'd do well enough, after all.

For anyone who wanted something a little more fitted, yeah, he'd help with figuring out your sizing, too. He did sell lingerie at his other job, after all. He was qualified.

Hannibal strode into the store in an expensive pantsuit in roughly the right size, somewhat offset by the lack of tailoring, the sports bra that didn't exactly help, and the cold-weather boots that had at least been big enough to stuff socks in the toes so he could wear them.

He spotted the girl behind the counter, and made an educated guess based on the hair. "Sparkle?"

"The one and only," Sparkle replied, glancing up and... needing a moment. Between the clothing, the cheekbones, and the cadence in the way his name was said, he could piece together a fairly educated guess as to who he was talking to, but it was still weird to see. "Oh, shit. This stuff hits off the island, too, huh?"

He'd known that. He'd been told before. But it was a little more jarring to actually see proof of that in person.

"Apparently so," Hannibal answered dryly. He gestured at himself. "I need new measurements, it would seem. Also shoes and underthings. How long does this generally last?"

"Usually? Just for the weekend, like all the other weirdness around here," Sparkle replied, reaching for the measuring tape. "Word through the grapevine is that it's dragged on twice as long, before, though. So... Shit, I don't know for sure."

Sparkle was so completely reassuring!

Honesty was better, really. Hannibal nodded. "Well, we'll start with a few days' worth, then. Does the store handle tailoring?" It seemed easier than one that might ask questions.

"I can do a bit," Sparkle replied with a shrug. "You learn to make clothes work for you, you know?"

When you had pride and dignity and nothing to your name, you made them work.

"It's not something we, like, advertise, though. You need that taken in?"

"Please," Hannibal agreed. "And let's hope my measurements don't change the next time this happens." He pulled off his jacket. "What shall we do first? Measurements?"

"Helps with the tailoring part, yeah. Unless those boots are driving you nuts." He nodded down at Hannibal's footwear. "Those have got to be huge on your feet right now."

"Very." Hannibal grimaced. He thought about it for a moment. "Shoes first," he decided. "They may affect how long the pants need to be, after all."

"What's the point of doing this when it's so cold I can't demonstrate how karking cute my boobs are now?" Cade demanded, stomping into the shop in a pair of black leather pants, a black tank and his normal leather duster.

"I feel your pain," Sparkle replied, shooting a grin up at Cade. "Let it out, man. Let it out."

See how sympathetic he was? Sparkle had so much understanding, here.

"I mean, there's nothing wrong with dressing to show 'em off, wearing the duster, and then losing it when you hit up a bar or something. You just have to get creative with your venues."

It was Cade's second favorite thing to do on weekends like this. The first revolved mostly around his awesome rack.

"... It's like you know me, Cade." Sparkle was grinning, yes. Cade was the guy with all the good ideas, wasn't he? "Mainland bars? People are going to know here on the island that half the hot chicks they're hitting on usually come with dicks."

"Plus they probably know what we're doing," Cade added. "Well, other than the new kids, but they're probably locked in their rooms crying about their new racks."

"Or testing them out," Sparkle offered. "I mean, it'd be such a fucking waste if they weren't."

Sparkle wasn't even into girl parts, but after having them once or twice, he could sort of see the appeal. If you happened to be a girl.

"That should be on a karking poster," Cade said. "Like a thing for the dorm common rooms or something. 'The island gives you weird shit. USE IT.'"

"... I would totally hang that up in the dorms," Sparkle shared. "Maybe like a picture of a guy in a skirt looking all confused, or someone flying or something like that. I mean, like, this stuff doesn't even last long, though I wish we could pick and choose what did."

"For the love of god, point me to the sports bras!" James demanded as he ran inside the store. It probably wasn't tough to figure out why. He had some extra weight up top today that didn't seem to agree with superspeed.

Still, he didn't look as annoyed about this as he might. It was possible that he didn't particularly mind that extra weight.

"Putting out a display right now, actually," Sparkle replied, pointing to the shipment that he was unpacking. "You have a preference? Solid colours? Leopard spots? Cute little daisies?"

This... guy... didn't really strike Sparkle as the 'cute little daisies' sort. But hey, he liked to cover his bases.

"Primary colors, preferably red and blue," James said. "I'm big on branding."

"So you're a Pepsi kind of guy, huh?" Sparkle dug through the pile, surfacing with a few options and glancing up, trying to eyeball what this guy's size might be. "I can respect that."

"Ugh, no, wrong branding," James complained. "Personal... You know what, forget it, just focus on the colors."

"Sure thing, Taco Bell," Sparkle replied, smirking as he tossed a red bra at James, followed by a blue one. "Might want to try 'em on first. I mean, unless you're willing to sit through being properly sized or whatever."

If the gay boy were a gay man, he'd give it a shot. But as it was, that would be creepy and borderline illegal. Probably. The laws in Fandom were difficult to figure out.

Anyway, there was a blur as James caught the bras and then, suddenly, he only had the blue one in his hand. "The red one's fine. You can have this one back." He threw the blue one toward Sparkle and by the time he might have caught it, James was also holding a couple simple outfits. "I'll also take these."

"Uh, good." Sparkle was now standing there with a handful of bra, blinking a little. "Good to see a customer who knows what they want."

He was going to just spend the rest of his shift wondering if maybe he was actually just suffering some kind of bad trip this weekend.

"Anything else I can help you with?"
