Of course the triplets thought going to work with Papa was the most exciting idea ever, no matter how much Jack tried to make it sound like that wasn't the case. Eventually he gave up trying to dissuade them. So he had Christiana shooing Tiny away so she could create hideous mocktails at the bar; Amélie primping in the ladies room for what seemed to Jack like an ungodly amount of time; and Annika holed up in a booth, reading one of his college history texts as avidly as if it were a romance novel.

He decided that he'd be pleased they at least all knew how to entertain themselves. The club's triplet-augmented sign read:

Christiana Priest, Junior Mixologist, Today Only.
(Yes, We Still Card.)

After waking up to the sound of Kanin's voice repeating one of the lessons he'd taught her back in New Covington, Allie was out and about and looking for distractions.

"New employees?" she asked as she took a seat at the bar. "Or did I miss something over the weekend?"

"It's child labor," Christiana explained sweetly as she set a napkin in front of Allie. "We've complained they're breaking the law, but they won't listen."

Jack heard the tail end of what his daughter was saying and stepped in.

"It's time for the future children again," he explained with a sigh. "The one lying to you is Christiana, Amélie is flirting with the DJ, and Annika is ... I lost track of Annika."

"Considering Eric won't let me pour drinks because I'm not twenty-one, I doubt he's going to break any other labor laws," Allie pointed out. "So I'm not buying it."

She turned and grinned at Jack. "I'm so glad this bit of island silliness passed me by."

"Poor you," called a young female voice from the DJ loft. Jack sighed.

"I've gotten to like it," he admitted. "But it seems the triplets are force of nature at this point. They just missed last year because ..."

He turned to Christiana. "Why did you miss last year?"

Mom had taken the mini-maniacs to work with her, so Cadence was free! Free to dance! And possibly flirt.

Although, she was wondering if she could talk the DJ into letting her mix a few beats too.

Annika danced over to investigate, matching the other girl's rhythm.

"Hi," she said over the music. She'd already taken a quick deep sniff to see if the girl was human, wolf, mutant or other. "Isn't this song the best?"

Anyone checking on Cadence's scent would get a "human" hit, definitely, with a hint of magic from hanging around waaay too many Fae to mention, and some of them putting protections on her.

"I'm into it," Cadence said, smiling back at the other girl. "But I kinda want something faster. Think the DJ would let a girl lay down a few beats?"

Almost everyone in Fandom had that whiff of magic, so Annika mentally classed Cadence as human until proven otherwise.

"Probably," she said. "My sister was working him over earlier. Put on more lipstick and lower your neckline and he'd let you do anything."

Cadence laughed, and shot a glance back at the DJ's booth. Yup, definitely doing that. In a minute.

"I'm Cadence. Did I see you behind the bar before, or was that your sister?"

Okay, so he couldn't get a drink here, which, for the record, Collin still thought was pretty ridiculous. But there was a dance floor, and he'd managed to ditch the siblings with their parents, and if he was going to be on the island for a while, he was going to take this opportunity to enjoy it.

Especially when there were as many pretty ladies on the dance floor as there were tonight. He'd even mostly behave and keep his wings folded behind himself. Nobody needed to get smacked around by fifteen feet of blue-colored wings today. Nobody.

And lo and behold, Amélie stopped her current round of bothering the DJ to dance up a little closer to Collin. Or a lot closer.

"Nomms!" she laughed. "My night just got much more interesting."

Particularly ones that he wasn't related to, because god, Kayla.

"I know," Amélie said, rolling her eyes. "We haven't seen anyone. Maman and Papa decided that since we were all together, they'd show us some culture. We were being dragged through museums off-island almost all day yesterday."

A pause. "We think they were worried about what kind of trouble we'd find in Fandom."

Cadence had been dancing a while, and headed over to the side to get a drink-- then noticed someone she knew.

"Collin!" ... which, okay, keep the squee internal, girl. "Hey."

"It's not bad, I'm thinking of giving the DJ a break and taking over for a while, though." Cadence tilted her head, and studied his wings. "Love the blue, that's different." Although, he didn't look any older than the last time she'd seen him, and that was five years ago for her.

If he was actually mad about it, he'd have nipped this game in the bud a long time ago. As long as there were no blond kids with names like Ikea furniture looking for, this was a win of a weekend.
