Trooper Station | Sunday

Stiles felt mildly guilty for not coming into work last week, so here he was on a Sunday. He wasn't really doing much in the way of work. Mostly he was looking up Oscar stuff and keeping an eye on the snowstorm that was supposed to hit Maryland.

Said snowstorm was totally the reason he was wearing a scarf right now. Yep. Totally for that reason and not because of a massive hickey he may have had on his neck.

"So what do you think the odds are of going back to last week?" Kitty said when she came in.

Someone was having a terrible 24 hours.

"I kind of disliked last week overall." A vacation without his boyfriend or his BFF was kind of a crappy vacation. "But I'm like allergic to the sun."

[throughaphase]

"That's just a mean thing to be allergic to," Kitty decided.

[robinonadderall]

Stiles shrugged. He actually wasn't that against the sun but it wasn't like he could share his actual reason for not liking his vacation.

"I hope you don't have actual trooper business because there's barely anybody here on Sundays."

[throughaphase]

"Does anyone in this town ever have actual trooper business?" she asked. "My apartment's depressing. I had to be out for a while."

"There's lawn gnome problems," he said and left it at that. "Probably best to get out of your apartment while you can, apparently there's snow coming. Might get trapped indoors."

"I can't really get trapped anywhere," she pointed out. "Is that the reason for the scarf?"

[robinonadderall]

"Yep. Don't want to get caught in the snow." Lies, all lies. "Also it's fashionable."

"You care about fashion now?" No offense.

[robinonadderall]

"Wow, rude and hurtful." He dressed fine!

[throughaphase]

"I'm just saying, I've never heard you talk about fashion at all ever. That's all," she promised.

[robinonadderall]

He shrugged. "Interested in it now, I guess. At least when it comes to keeping my neck warm without looking like a doofus."

"Well, it's looking good," she told him. He was still a guy wearing a scarf indoors, but he could do what he wanted.

"Thank you." It definitely looked better than what looked to be the remnants of an animal attack on his neck. "So you miss sandy white beaches and sunshine, huh?"

"Among other things." Like a simpler life without being mad at anyone or anyone being mad at her. "You really didn't like vacation?"

[robinonadderall]

"I kind of hung out with myself most of the time." Because he was used to being codependent with Derek and/or Scott. "And Derek stopped texting me halfway through and I knew he was in trouble but I couldn't do anything about it sooooooo yeah. Kind of put a damper on fun in the sun."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, I bet," Kitty frowned. "Did you know what was happening?"

[robinonadderall]

"I had my guesses, but I didn't know for sure until I saw Derek again," he said. "I knew he'd make it out alive but that didn't really make me feel better when I also knew he was likely being tortured in a basement."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah. That part's gotta really suck," Kitty said sympathetically.

[robinonadderall]

"It really did," he said. "I'm still pretty worried about him. I'm hoping his therapist can handle the trauma that comes from dealing with torture and killing one of your family members."

'Cause god knows Derek wasn't going to share.

"Meanwhile I'm gonna try to help him curb that whole alpha thing."

Kitty frowned. "What alpha thing?"

[robinonadderall]

"Killing Peter made him an alpha and that comes with a lot of power," Stiles said. "It's easy for it to go to your head and make your control slip until you get used to it. You become more confident, more protective, more impulsive. And there's also the need to build up your pack."

Look, it had been a concern when Scott became an alpha. Turned out all that research wasn't needed because the True Alpha skipped over all that, apparently.

[throughaphase]

"Ah. Wish I'd known that before I went over there," Kitty grumbled.

[robinonadderall]

"Did he get creepy on you?" Stiles asked. "'Cause he doesn't mean that, he'll back off once you say you don't want to be a werewolf."

[throughaphase]

Oh, yeah, that was going to make Clint come around on the Derek thing.

"No, I went over there to see how he was and he thinks I was only there because I have a guilty conscience," she said. "It wasn't a very long conversation."

[robinonadderall]

"...well that just sounds like regular Derek." A suspicious asshole. Yeah. That was Derek.

[throughaphase]

"Probably. Either way, it's not the only time something like this has happened lately," Kitty shrugged. "I'm just gonna steer clear for a while. Probably better that way anyway." Which sucked, but if she couldn't even talk to him, there wasn't a point in pushing it.

[robinonadderall]

"He's not the easiest person to get along with, it's true." It had taken a lot of time and two different Dereks before Stiles got a handle of it. "You gotta remember he's been through a lot over the last week. And I made things worse by telling him that Peter comes back so he has to go back into town and deal with that problem."

[throughaphase]

"What does that mean?" And why did she think it was going to be terrible?

Oh right, Beacon Hills.

[robinonadderall]

"I don't know for sure," Stiles started. "But personally I'd chop his body up and scatter the pieces in different places."

[throughaphase]

"And everything just got even more disturbing," Kitty sighed.

[robinonadderall]

"Better than having Peter back," he said with a shrug. "But traumatizing for him all the same."

[throughaphase]

"Nothing like dismembering the corpse of your last known surviving family member that you had to kill to make everything better," she agreed. "What does Peter go on to do? I mostly just know everyone wanted him dead."

[robinonadderall]

"After he comes back to life? Nothing, really," Stiles admitted. "But before that his spirit makes Lydia think she's going crazy...but other than that he does nothing. Still deserves to die though. Guy's a psychopath."

[throughaphase]

Kitty never really thought anyone deserved to die, but in this case, it was too late for that anyway. "Does your town ever just get exhausting?" she wondered.

"Been kind of quiet for me lately." Probably the calm before the storm.

[throughaphase]

Probably.
